You don't believe in God but you think you are one? That thread on homosexuality was getting pretty interesting but noooooo, you don't like it so I'll make it disappear.04-chairshot

At least give me a chance to let this gentleman explain Christianity vs homosexuality and then be god again, ok?

Uhm no. Keep mod actions to pm only and keep God to the appropriate section of the forums.

This isn't a democracy...it's a message board.

RE: What right do you have to close a thread?
Keep mod action to PM only? Really, that's discouraging, I think people where having a real conversation and the fact that someone questioning why something was done shouldn't be relegated to "background" talk. I really think a majority of people would probably agree to continue that conversation, heck, we have OT items on this board, why should that discussion be different? You had a zillion page thread on a sexual act with a carrot (HILARIOUS BTW) which wasn't moved to the "appropriate section of the forums" (what section would that be, I wonder? LOL) but a discussion on a current topic is moved or closed and someone questioning why that was done should only do it in silence? That's pretty crazy, it's a legitimate question. The thread was obviously popular and I didn't see anyone trolling, just people with different points of views. I wasn't participating but was really enjoying the different point of views and discussion, that's what a message board is.

We have a forum for both political discussion and another one for OT. This thread had both. It was also growing offensive. A few posters complained. At that point the Mod did the right thing.

Msg mods if you have a concern. The end, end thread

RE: What right do you have to close a thread?
General comment but there clearly is room for OT posts on the board (I remember the thread by another FIU fans asking why there were so many). I think the inconsistency is what's getting to me. I guess what I'm saying is that maybe warning the people who were getting offensive or complained about is a better idea than eliminating an entire topic. Just a thought. Anyway, moving on.

Don't you know by now? If a mod doesn't agree with you he just shuts it down or moves it where here is no traffic....lol

So we can talk things that are contrary to God's word on the main board, but those things that pertain to God has to be hid in the back room?

Religion has never been the main focus on the main board, but when a sports subject makes it relevant, why not discuss it?

If you're referring to me, did not move it. Someone else did.

And FIU panther fan. There are no inconsistencies.

Fun or informative OT's tend to stay. Ones that devolve either from the OP or devolve into negativity/mud slinging tend to go. Always.

RE: What right do you have to close a thread?
There is a difference in a thread about someone getting cornholed by a carrot and a thread devolving into an ideological pissing match about homosexuality. One may be gross, but relatively good natured. The other has a special room because it is a fundamentally divisive topic that people get way too worked up over.

Also, we don't debate mod actions on here. I've never been a mod (why not, huh?), but the board is a much better place without those pissing matches. I've found that the mods are willing to talk through any concerns or issues you may have...in private.

[snip]

just for the record, no one actually got corn holed (or, carrot holed, as it were) in the carrot thread. there was drunkenness, pee, sex, and theft, but no there was no actual veggie sodomy.

thus is the lore of the carrot thread; it's legend is larger than life.

But re: religion threads, what you're doing is telling people that all they have to do to get a religion thread tossed is to crap it up, and then report it as a crapped up thread.
