You understand that's not how sponsorships work, right? Logistically, what you proposed makes absolutely no sense. Splitting $2 million a year among the dozen state schools gets all of them nowhere and it doesn't get State Farm's name any anybody's arena.

NIU can go and try to get a similar deal from a sponsor, nothing is stopping them from trying to do so.

It is all about who you know these days. Sponsorships like this are most likely the same. I'm sure there are some higher ups in State Farm that were U of I grads.

My extreme hatred of the Illness doesn't let me be logical. So as a State Farm policyholder for my house and 6 vehicles ...it pisses me off royally to see them do this with U of I. It may not be sane or logical or whatever...but that's how I feel.

That's exercising your rights as a customer. Make sure you tell them why you're dropping them.

LOL yea...that is me. I think it's funny that you know that about me and you don't know me all that well. As for Geico,I'm not an NIU alum unfortunately...my son is.
HuskieBob, believe me, if I drop State Farm I will most definitely tell them why.
Frisky, I don't care who HyVee sponsors or doesn't because I don't shop there ...this is about money I am paying to a company. They are using MY money (ok yes it is less than a drop in the bucket of the millions they are spending but even if it's a penny...) to help the Illness. Of course I do have to be practical...and if it will cost MORE to go elsewhere I can't do it. I CAN write to them and let them know of my disapproval though.

I know it sounds crazy...but that's just me!

State Farm pays out close to 100% of premiums that they take in in claims. So they're not using "your money" to pay for this sponsorship. They're using the investment returns that they get on that money to pay for it.

Everybody's doing this...why can't we?

This cannot make ISU happy as State Farm is a Bloomington based company and major employer in that area.
