RE: A refresher
I would steer clear other than saying have a nice day. Technically it does not look like a violation but its best to steer clear any way. I hope I get a raise but I am not asking or soliciting it.

Just don't say the letters UAB. Don't say anything that could be taken out of context. Best to not say anything other than have a blessed day!

Btw don't advertise on a public message board that you think you see a violation. Contact UAB compliance and let them handle it in house.

Don't talk to recruits. Don't talk to players either.

Unless you're not a booster? Does that matter? Can a random fan break these rules?

The way the rules are written, if you have season tickets to a UAB sport, you are a booster.

From the UAB website

*****************

AM I A "REPRESENTATIVE OF ATHLETIC INTERESTS" OR "BOOSTER"?

Yes, if you
•have ever participated in or are currently a member of any of the various athletic department booster groups.

•have ever made a donation to the UAB men's or women's athletic program.

•have ever helped to arrange or have provided summer employment for enrolled student-athletes.

•have ever contacted a high school student, grades 9-12, for the purpose of encouraging this student to participate in the UAB athletic program.

•have ever been involved in promoting UAB's athletic program in any way.

Once an individual has been identified as a booster, he/she retains this identity forever.

This thread is rather disturbing and probably should be deleted.

RE: A refresher
Just to be on the safe side, boosters probably shouldn't go to the games.

You might yell something to a player. That would be talking to them.

why? posting info put out by the athletic dept and then asking for clarification...that needs to be deleted?

RE: A refresher
Actually to the contrary, this thread shows people close to the program having a nuts and bolts discussion about the nuances of proper interactions between boosters and players. I don't think it's disturbing.

Don't talk to high school kids. It's weird.

Thank you. Glad someone else sees that. Too bad they took away the plus-rep button.

I used to have to talk to HS kids on occasion - because I was paid to do it. And that's what you'd have to do to get me to talk to them now - pay me to do it.

RE: A refresher
I've gotten three points at a time before, but I can't figure out how to give someone more than 1 at a time. I would look it up on a support forum or faq, but I don't quite care that much. Maybe someone can just lay it out here? That's a board functionality "refresher," so it's not a complete thread hijack.

I think you can go to that person's profile & rate user (in the right hand corner)

Or maybe the reputation option for that profile.

I think the number of points you can give is a function of your post count.

RE: A refresher
That's what I figured.

The post count thing, although I thought maybe it was tied to reputation as well.
