"The Cardinals might not be the country's fourth-best team based on talent and depth, but which opponent is capable of unseating them in the depleted Big East?"

I can think of at least one.

I'd also argue 2 or 3 of the teams coming in are better than 2 or 3 of the teams that left - so 'depleted' is a matter of opinion.

Such a joke. The level of ignorance in national sports media is astounding.

Well since UC isn't going to get any love, I say let UofL get built up and up and up so that when we beat them it will look like a big deal.

RE: Love Fest Begins
Too high in my opinion. I don't think we'll get beat but there are a couple teams on our schedule that COULD upset us, but even with Teddy out we still have so many playmakers on offense. People seem to forget we played most of last season with a sophomore heavy roster and lost a bunch of starters early in the year, including two on the DL. The game against Florida was the only game where we had most of them back, and even then we still missed our top WR and RB from 2011. 18 starters will be back for 2013 and we've got some dynamite transfers that will be eligible to play. We played 12 games without a true power running back or fullback too which killed us on 3rd and 4th and short situations, and in the bowl game we interchanged a TE and DE who proved to be very effective.

If we do start that high and we run the table I doubt they can shut Louisville out of the title game.

You would be screwed if that happened. If UC started Kay day 1 last season UC is 11-1 or 12-0.

Louisville looks like a 10-2 level team. Probably somewhere between the Sugar Bowl and the loss to UConn is the real the U of L. I don't like their chances at Cincinnati or at USF. I see a handful of schools finishing near the top of the league this season. Cincinnati, Louisville, USF, UCF, Rutgers and Houston all have the talent to win the league if they catch enough breaks.

I'm not sure why the hate fest begins here?!?

Who gives a $hit if they're rated highly. If anything this is a GOOD thing for fans of UC. Here is a golden opportunity to knock off a potentially highly ranked squad. Which other team on our schedule affords such a grand opportunity. Additionally it's great to have high profile teams in one's league. Again, how is this a bad thing for?!?

I would love to see them ranked that highly (and even #1) by the time we get to them.

But you didn't. Even with Kay you guys needed all kinds of luck just to beat a 6-7 Duke team, and couldn't move the ball against a bad Rutgers team.

I'm pulling for Louisville to be as highly rated as possible. I think 4 is way overrated as people overvalue their awesome performance against Florida(and they were great that day), and undervalue a solid, but unspectacular regular season. That said...the higher they are when they come to Cincinnati, the better.

And without him UC almost (and should have) beat Louisville.

This is not a hate fest with Louisville. I respect Louisville. It is a hate fest with ESPN.

Agreed. Louisville has a great team and should be excited. That being said, they're nowhere near #4 in the country and to suggest that they're head and shoulders above the rest of the Big East is just lazy and willful ignorance.

Totally agree. I was thrilled watching them beat Florida last year. Hopefully that game is GIGANTIC at the end of the season.

Seems like a lot of jealousy that they did what we couldn't, won a BCS bowl game, kept their coach, moved to a better conference and have all the funding in the world.

Nice try, we had no coaching staff for the bowl game and still scored over 40 points. Rutgers had 7 players drafted, more that any BIG team. You lost to UConn and Syracuse last year, needed OT to beat UC.

If Teddy gets hurt Ville is a 6-6 team.

It is all jealousy, rationalized as hatred for ESPN. That is what makes it so funny.
