Got my wish: Purdue/ND series is done, gone, no more
Cancelled by Purdue (2016):

@TJamesNDI: Purdue AD. RT ‏@carminjc Burke said ND series now "off cycle" w/ #B1G going to 9 games starting in 2016.

@carminjc: Burke on playing 7 home games vs. keeping ND: "I cannot balance the budget on six home games. Can’t do it. It doesn't work." #Purdue

Looks like going forward the main B1G school ND will be playing is Michigan State?

Too bad. A fine old rivalry.

I never could stand Purdue. I won't miss the series even considering that my parents picked a 1939 ND/Purdue game for their honeymoon trip.

Purdue thinks they're going to make more money by playing another MAC or FCS team at home every year than they would by playing ND at home every other year?

Or did they just look at the way the wind was blowing and cancel ND before ND cancelled them?

They claim it is the Big Ten going to a nine game schedule.

To be honest, I think that ND and most of its fans are just as happy this one is ending.

Notre Dame gets all of the mid-west they need by playing 7 games at home.

I honestly think the only one that ND really cares about is Michigan State. And I think ND fans even genuinely care about that game.

I'm not sure this means its going away. It sounds like they are still trying to make it work, but might have to take a break (align it so both teams can fit it in with 7 home games).

Well I don't know if Purdue is one of them but many Big Ten teams can sell out, or nearly sell out, on schools such as the MAC so yea they probably can make more money though I would think that it would hurt their perception of their schedule.

Why wouldn't the Michigan State game go away as well?

My reaction exactly. Gof5 schools make ends meet with only six home games and without big TV bucks.

I think they statement earlier may be correct... Purdue may have seen the way the wind in blowing and initiated the drop before N.D. could do it to them. Michigan State is a more important game for N.D. than Purdue brand a branding and recruiting perspective.

To sell out a MAC game, do they charge a lower ticket price (vs. Notre Dame)? I know many Southern teams can sell out with an FCS opponent, but they usually have to charge less per ticket.

I don't understand what the purdue AD is talking about, 9 big 10 games + ND = 10 games, 5 home and 5 away. The final 2 games are mac type school's for 2 home games. OF course, if ND doesn't want to play purdue that makes some sense but purdue should still want to play ND even with 9 big 10 games.
