B1G goes to 9 conf games starting 2016
How Does this effect Pitt?...

I think this possibly affects Pitt only because the likelihood of Pitt and PSU inking a permanent annual series is dead. But supposedly there is another team playing 9 conf games annually that is open to a permanent annual OOC game with Pitt, i.e. WVU. If the ACC continues to stay at 8 conf games plus knowing that ND is now going to be playing Pitt significantly less than historically, does Pitt bite the bullet and ink WVU to a permanent OOC rivalry game to lock in that "9th conf game"?

Mod Note: I shortened the Title to make it easier to reply.

RE: Looks like the B1G goes to 9 conf games
Sadly I'm very worried that PSU could drop the Pitt series before it starts. I'd rather work towards inking a permanent deal w/ WVU than risking PSU dropping games. I guess its wait and see w/ PSU.

PS... try to make your topic title shorter. I tried to do quick reply and wasn't able to.

I agree that a permanant series with WVU is good for our regional rivalry, however, Steve has made it very clear that scheduling the BYB is NOT a priority. And if Stevie boy is one thing its that he's consistant. When he decides he doesn't want to do something then he makes damn sure that Pitt never does it.

Translation = Backyard Brawl is dead as long as Steve is the AD.

Sounds like some of the big donors need to have a little talk with the President of the university...

[P.S. Miko, your subject is still TOO LONG!!!]

Sorry for shortening the title Miko. Makes it easier to reply.

Mark, I don't think anything will change until Nordy retires. Nordy has done a ton of good for the University as a whole but when it comes to football and the tradition/identity of the program, he has allowed far too much harm to the program. I am not the biggest 'Script buy, and I totally understand why Panther Stadium has been torn down. But rebranding Pitt to Pittsburgh, 5-10 different logo's over the past 15+ years and bringing back Peterson just kills me. Peterson botched every coaching hire between Pitt and Nebraska. Its really a shame that Peterson has a job.

Then somebody should donate a condo... on a golf course in South Florida... with the stipulation that Nordy can move into it as soon as he retires...

They have... it is how Paul Chryst got hired. Steve Pederson wanted Mario Cristobal but got overuled by the doners on that one.
