Did you buy in 2009? A lot of new vehicles have Sirius and OnStar free for the first year. I think it's coming back, not just because of Stern. Once you've had it, you dont want to get rid of it. In 96 Sirius was selling for a little over 13.

At one point, it was in the $60 range... The price increase is definitely in line with the auto industry coming back.

Mine came with a free one year subscription in January, I still use Pandora on my iPhone.

I don't think satellite radio has a very bright future. Content really sucks beyond talk and Stern is the only real draw. Insfrastructure costs are big. Everything is going towards the internet. Once they get 4G LTE in cars, say adios to satellite radio.

BOA was okay company before Feds made them bail out Countrywide.

The only thing good about satellite radio is the all Pearl Jam station. And even that would burn me out after a few weeks.

just leased a brand new Dodge Dart, came with a free year of Sirius. It's ok, but i definitely won't be paying for it when I have a smartphone i can just pair through bluetooth and play Pandora on. The audio quality isn't very good and the station selection is meh. All their stations are too focused on one niche at a time.

I disagree. I had it for 9+ years and dropped it when the trial expired in my new car last year.

The audio quality is wretched compared to what XM was broadcasting in 2002-2003, the chatter by the DJs got way more annoying, and there were a TON more commercials on the non-music stations over the years.

It's still handy for road trips and such but, honestly, the HD Radio in my car has way better audio quality and I just stream podcasts/music via the integrated Bluetooth the rest of the time.
