RE: Undrafted Free Agents
I think it is up to Stewart to assess the risks and make a decision for himself. I will be pretty sad if he doesn't get an offer to join a camp and make that decision.

I do believe he was done a major disservice when it was quickly announced after his injury that his condition would end his career. That announcement was unnecessary and obviously premature. I have to think he would be in a very different position now if his condition were completely evaluated and he had been "cleared" without that announcement.

I hope he gets his NFL shot if that is a possibility and what he wants.

Regardless I hope he ends up back here working with the team as a coach.

NFL teams aren't stupid. UC didn't give anything away on Stewart that wouldn't have been discovered by the full medical evaluations the league does and every team knows. Most of the time when a player "slides" in the draft who was highly regarded by the public, it's because the powers that be know something is up. Yesterday Lapham was talking on the radio about how all the gurus were wondering how Lacy could have fallen so far and what a bargin he was in the late 2nd round, but the medical reports show a fused toe that he needs to wear a plate in his shoe for, a torn pectoralis muscle and an MCL tear. Kipher, et al aren't privy to these reports.

No NFL team wants to take the unnecessary risk of a hit that paralyses or kills Walt. I feel so bad for him, but the risk is way too high. Even if he signs a waiver, the image of a player seriously injured on the field is horrific.

RE: Undrafted Free Agents
• Ray Graham, RB, Pittsburgh; Dennis Johnson, RB, Arkansas; George Winn, RB, Cincinnati; Cierre Wood, RB, Notre Dame — Houston Texans: Pick your favorite running back of the group. With Arian Foster occasionally struggling with injuries and little depth behind No. 2 back Ben Tate, the Texans got busy addressing that position after the draft.

In doing so, they signed four of the best (maybe the four best) available running backs. At least one or two should stick around, meaning this position battle will be one to watch come training camp.

Haven't seen this posted anywhere.

Josh Katzowitz ‏@joshkatzowitz 2h

Patriots announce they've signed former UC running back George Winn. Previously, he was with the Texans for 5 days in May.

The Texans still have Foster and Tate right?

I can't name the Patriots RB, Woodhead still?

RE: Undrafted Free Agents
I feel like somewhere with two established backs and no one behind them would be better than the Pats backfield, a place were four different players had fantastic games for them last year (whether due to injury or suspension of other players). They had three running backs go for 100 yards rushing, three who had games with 150+ total yards, and one that went for 1200 yards last season. Stevan Ridley is the real deal, Shave Vereen is a great 3rd Down Back, and Danny Woodhead is a great pass situational back, plus you've got your power guy in Brandon Bolden. I see less room there for George, much as I love to see him stick somewhere.

Former UC running back transfer Kent state Quentin Hines was the only free agent signee to Pats..He tore his knee up and they put him on injured reserve, then on waivers...Danny Woodhead is with the Chargers now.
Winn was worked out, and brought in for camp to take up the empty spot opened up by the Hines injury..Hope he makes the best of this second chance.

Thompkins is doing well in New england as well..Hooey is sharing reps with the veteran tackles at St. Louis and will complete for a roster spot in camp. He has a really good chance of making the practice squad.
Have not seen anything else on Bomar, or Gio ?

Winn is a really good fit for the Patriots IMO.

^^^ Agree. Wouldn't be surprised to see George end up playing special teams for the Pats. That was one of many things he excelled at here and Belichick is one of those old school coaches that really focuses on that position group.
