And the award for the most ridiculous crap I've ever seen posted on this messageboard ever can now be given.
Wow.
BTW, Cavan works at the University of Georgia these days in Development (ie fundraising).

The reaches people have had to make to defend Fulmer here!

Really sad.

If Fulmer had been wearing ETSU stuff..Pitt would have found fault with that..and would have said Fulmer should be true to his UT roots!!!
No matter what happens, Pitt uses it to bash ETSU.. He will continue to do it as long as we continue to debate with him.. just take it for what it is!!!!!
And I say again...he was wearing a Jacket that was ETSU blue!!!!!!!!!!
So the folks in Knoxville can be mad at him for that.......
And get ready for Pitt to come down hard on WHOEVER Fulmer recommends for head coach.. He won't be the right man for the job.... and I'm sure that will cause a lot of concern for the new coach..knowing Pitt does not approve...................He will probably not accept the job............

Check one of his posts above he has already layed the groundwork for doing just that.
Quote:But instead he lies back in the shadows as we wait to inevitably hire a former UT assistant to guide the program, or perhaps hear how someone from outside of UT just had too good of a resume to pass up if his former proteges shun him.

See? He has covered it both ways, if he picks say Randy Sanders or someone not from his UT family. You nailed it.

Well it works well when shuttling JV Girls lacrosse coaches around town for Checker Cab or whatever. It won't be Randy Sanders, btw...

Checker (and Diamond) went out of business long ago, no more big orange cabs running around town.

I hope you mean Fulmer, right? Not Pitt. I am sure Mike White probably has some type of rules in place about letting Pitt anywhere near female athletes and/or coaches.

Definitely protocol involved there, I'm fairly certain that you have to actually work in media and not have your credential yanked from probably one of the more laid back SID's on the planet.
Though he could interview Barbie, I'm fairly certain that would be one hell of a conversation. 07-coffee3

It's the first game of the Bucs new program. Everyone is decked out at Thane Gash Stadium for the opener against Tusculum. We're both there on the 50 burying the hatchet and sneezing our lungs out in the east Tennessee air.

Behind us is none other than Joe Corso! The longtime political science professor and one time candidate for local office, as well as part time political commentator on election day on various TV stations.

Corso is dressed in blue and gold! Only it's NOTRE DAME blue and gold, his alma mater. He's got a cap on with a shamrock and a Notre Dame shirt.

You don't think the reaction would be "Uh, doesn't he know where he's at?"

"Oh, I'm a Notre Dame grad!" Corso says! "I want to inject the Luck of the Irish, my alma mater, into the new Bucs!"

"Uh, yeah. Thanks Joe," those around him react, quite naturally, while rolling their eyes.

Oh no he didn't.......
Shades of Tim Mullins.....
Clue for Pitt: Corso unexpectedly passed away a few months ago - maybe about 3. *Please* don't now tell us you're the one who killed him.
We know you're a recidivist (par excellence), but please...

RE: ETSU heading back to SoCon according to Fulmer (Twitter rumor)
So I am new to the board. Check it fairly often to see what is going on, but have never posted until now.

Let me say first that I really could care less what colors Coach Fulmer is wearing at a golf tourney in Nashville. But I will say I am less than impressed with the kickoff of ETSU football.

We started out pretty good, news conference, articles in the paper, etc, but now.....crickets......I understand that there is probably a million things going on behind the scenes, but given the history of student/alumni/community apathy about most things ETSU, I would have thought we would have taken more advantage of the publicity that Coach Fulmer could bring to the start up of football and ETSU.

I guess I expected a little more at this point. I am not talking even about coaching or conference announcements, but just being out in the community, shaking hands, making friends, show the naysayers that Noland/Sander/Fulmer really are going to do it right and that this time mediocrity will NOT be acceptable. We have grown to accept mediocrity in our MBB program, if we do it in football it is destined to fail.

I've been cautioned on several occasions here to go a little slower, to be patient. Sometimes easier said than done. After the past ten years of ETSU athletics, frustration is certainly hard to contain. Dr. Noland, however, must have a grand plan that he is now working. As for the return of football, he is putting too much on the line not to have one. It will require his best administrative skills and his finest political know how. I sense that his current push for the arts and the beginnings of the actual process to construct the fine arts building along with his other initiatives are certainly part of this grand plan. With the fine arts building and these other things under way first in his administration, he will then be able to shift his unchallenged focus to a football stadium and a team to open it. Yes, there must be a great deal going on behind the scenes, and these things will be revealed at the optimum time and place. Again, I just can't see Noland, Sander, and Fulmer putting themselves out there without the chips in their pockets to make this thing go. At this stage, we have to believe, trust these folks, and do whatever each one of us can to see this thing happen -- and then join the big celebration when it does.

Someone on the Mercer athletic payroll wearing a UGA cap would be considered an act of war... regardless if they went there or not. The subject at hand though, the SoCon invitation, is really positive news. I think Mercer and ETSU have to be considered front runners and both sides benefit greatly with the additions.

How old is that picture? On the Phil Fulmer Golf Classic home page he appears to sport some different colors (Pardon the pun).

I would say the picture on the website is older since it has been up since before the tournament.

An employee is one thing, a consultant who operates as a private consultant who still has an office (or did until they started demolishing Stokely) at their alma mater and employer that put them in the hall of fame is another.
We both will make good additions, it's one of each, everyone is happy.

I like this photo better since he is wearing all ETSU blue .. and none of that nasty orange!!!!!
But.. I really don't care if he wears pink and purple and green if he helps us get our football program going again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
