Not disagreeing, but they measure two completely different things.

One of the major criteria for this listing is medical. Syracuse sold their medical school to the State of New York back in the 1960s. Therefore, SU will NOT receive credit for papers published by the medical school. Though Syracuse prepares many pre-med students, even more in conjunction with SUNY-ESF (the State component wherein SUNY students attend SU classes, with SU professors at SU, but get the State degree and pay State tuition), that will have no effect on the rankings.

Keep in mind that nobody in the ACC asked Maryland to leave. The Terps have been on a clandestine journey to seperate from their brethren by some foreigner, and you have followed just like sheep. You as a fans have no one to blame for your exclusion but yourselves. We will miss our history with Maryland, but we haven't seen much public outcry from your camp at the news of your leaving.........good-bye.

If its any consolation Atlantic. The remaining ACC fans have been very classy in the way that they have treated Maryland over here. There have been no daily attcks and no threads made up daily how the Acc doesnt need Maryland or how Maryland is going to fail in the Big. Thats what Pitt and SU and Louisville fans have had to deal with. And if anyone does say something out of the way, it likely wont be a fan from one of those institutions.

There have only been a few bad apples that feel rejected but yes, the vast vast majority of ACC fans have been gentlemen about it all

RE: International Academic Rankings
Sorry. I have nothing against Maryland. I'm grateful to them and have said so.
My mind set is simply us being in the ACC and when that happens, Maryland won't be. Just consider the course: the fan of a team that's not even in the conference yet.
Having lived on the Eastern Shore, I would actually like being associated with Maryland, and think their flag is the coolest in the world.

I'm too young to remember but I spent the first couple years of my life in Piney Point, MD. My mom was still living with my grandparents and my grandfather spent the last couple years of his Coast Guard career there.

It's more like two restaurant guides with one rating the breakfast at a restaurant and another ranking dinner service at the same restaurant. They are evaluating two very different things. What they are ranking at each school (research productivity vs undergraduate education) as well as the methodologies (pure quantitative data vs largely qualitative surveys) are very different.
