RE: New Conferences
Big East in 2014 is
Georgetown
Providence
St. John's
Seton Hall
Villanova
Xavier
Butler
DePaul
Marquette
Creighton.
Can't say for 2015, as they will be adding 2 teams in the near future according to the Seton Hall AD. The new schools could be two of St. Louis, Richmond, Dayton, VCU, Wichita State, Gonzaga, Etc.. No one knows

Probably adding two more out from Dayton, Saint Louis, VCU, and Richmond, with Dayton and Saint Louis as the betting favorites.

Yeah, St. Louis looks like an almost certain pick.

The WAC:
Seattle
CSU Bakersfield
Grand Canyon
Utah Valley
New Mexico State
UT Pan American
UM Kansas City
Chicago State
If the Summit League loses members to the Horizon League, the WAC may try to take advantage by adding some Summit members, e.g. Denver and UN Omaha. The Dakota schools might also be a possibility but the WAC appears to be targeting new members in close proximity to major airports, to compensate for the conference being so far-flung.

RE: New Conferences
The Sun Belt all sports:
Texas State
Arkansas State
Louisiana Monroe
Louisiana Lafayette
South Alabama
Troy
Georgia State
Georgia Southern
Appalachian State
Football only:
Idaho
New Mexico State
Non-football:
UT Arlington
UA Little Rock
The conference is seeking one more all-sports member so that it can have 12 for both football and olympic sports. Top candidates are rumored to be James Madison, Liberty and Jacksonville State.

Liberty is said to be out. JMU is too good for us. I'm hoping for MO State.

Okay thanks. That's a pretty nice conference. It reminds me of the old C-USA days when UofL was there. I can't figure out why S. Miss isn't a member. I think this will be a pretty competitive group and I know I will follow their success.

I am surprised Saint Louis wasn't added on the first go round. I don't know if regions matter much but there are currently 5 from the east and 5 from the midwest. Will they add one from each region or simply the best 2 teams?

Actually, I was thinking it looked pretty good. I think S. Miss should be in the AAC, but this conference looks alright to me. I think you will be surprised by how competitive it is. I know I will follow the success and growth of this conference.

There is a lot to grow with in the Sun Belt. I bet it will be a conference that surprises a lot of people. I am glad Idaho and NM State found a home there. I hope the Belt looks to Florida or Virginia for the last member. I would love for my Liberty Flames to make it in, but we'll just see what the future holds.

At this point, if your conference is not making 10mil+ a year, it's a big gamble to keep expanding past the 12 requirement for a CCG. We need to keep ourselves able to have 4 non-conference match ups a year. But IMO, let's see how 12 works out for us first for a few years on and off the field ($$$) before just jumping to 14-16,etc.

Wow, that is crazy. Only UAB, UNCC and USM remain from when UC was in C-USA...

No way UCONN gets stuck in this conference long-term, so Southern Miss just needs to bide their time. It is going to tick Mississippians off when they invite Rice first, though. Top flight academics and grosses about 10 mil more a year in athletics than Southern Miss, and doubling up in the city of Houston is not a killer. I would love to see a "Jr. SEC" conference that includes the top mid-tier team from each Southern state. We'll steal a name and call it the Southern Conference:
LA - Louisiana Tech
AR - Arkansas State
MS - Southern Miss
AL - UAB
TN - MTSU
KY - WKU
GA - Georgia State (I think they will get their act together. If not, Georgia Southern several years down the road or that spot goes to Jacksonville State or Troy.)
FL - FIU
SC - Coastal Carolina is not ready. UNC Charlotte gets their spot.
NC - Appalachian State
VA - Old Dominion
WV - Marshall
That is 12. I assume the Texas schools would want to stay together somehow with UTEP, but North Texas, UTSA, Texas State, and Missouri State would be a great 16. I just can't get my mind around a second tier conference where UTEP and Old Dominion travel to each other.
