If you had to name American music legends, he would have to be in most people's top 10/20.

I received some free tickets to one of his concerts a decade or so ago. I wasn't a huge fan of his, so I wasn't really excited about going. However, I came away impressed.

Without the fanfare, trick stages and props; it was one of the more musically entertaining shows I've seen.....much more entertaining than a Dylan concert.

I wasn't too keen on country music because I didn't have access to it. Sure, there was a country station in town but I never listened to it. Until. I joined the Air Force and there were a bunch of southern boys who would put their nickles (yep, nickles) in the juke box to country music. Now I love it. Last person I heard in concert was Lorrie Morgan in Nashville last Christmas.

RIP Georgie.

I was never much of a Country Music fan, but George Jones reminds me of riding around in my Dad's GMC Pickup when I was a kid. Something about country music from the 70's. Riding in the back of that old pickup out that old holler with dirt flying all over the place. Hot summers in a tobacco field at my Pawpaw's house. That's what George Jones' music reminds me of.
