Share Some Music You Like With Us...
We do a thread like this from time to time, normally in the off-season. It's simple, post a couple of youtube videos with songs you like a lot.

In addition to getting a chance to learn about a new band or song, it's a great way to share a little bit about yourself through song. The type of mysic someone listens to says a lot about them.

Here are my first submissions. All are songs from the bands' newest albums.

Minus the Bear:

Emarosa:

Circa Survive:

I listen to anything except rap, but I typically listen to Rock genre music. I've been invloved in "scene" rock since it began. I roadied for a "scene" band, then I ran a promotional agency for unsigned "scene" bands, then I played bass in a "scene" band.

If you like these bands tell me because I am very knowledgable about these kinds of music and can turn you on to all sorts of cool stuff. 04-cheers

RE: Share Some Music You Like With Us...
I listen to almost everything - some rap ala Macklemore but none of the gangster rap, some country ala Garth Brooks but nothing really recent otherwise, but mostly the general rock genre. Alternative, heavy metal, etc. Anything that'll make my foot tap. I'm not cool enough to name a bunch of bands that not many have heard of before, but this is some of what I like.

Foo Fighters - most favorite band, couple of songs you may not have heard if you haven't listened to the newer albums themselves (new album supposedly in the works)

Avenged Sevenfold - I always describe them as being Metallica-esque. If you've never heard it, give it a chance. Starts out as a ballad, then finishes heavy, again, very Metallica-esque.

Rev Theory

Macklemore - I liked it before it was cool 04-rock

Hey tyler, Minus the Bear's new album, "Infinity Overhead" is amazing. Just take my word for it and buy it on iTunes. Number one disc in my truck.

From April-September I'm listening to Radio Margaritaville pretty much non-stop. The weather just makes me daydream about being on a beach or boat all day. Some of my fav's:

The rest of the year I'm usually listening to a hodgepodge of Alternative/Indie Rock, Classic/Southern Rock and 60's-90's country.

I listen to all kinds of music (blues, jazz, rock (even the heavy stuff...one of my favorite bands ever is Tool), classical, jam etc.) Anyway, my brother showed me this guy not too long ago. I not a fan of everything he does, but he has a few that are just pretty dang catchy...and his use of the looper is pretty cool. A true "one man band". Makes me want to get the old acoustic out and start playing more often again. Used to do some playing in bars back when I was at Southern, but anyway...here ya go.

And if you're in to just some modern all instrumental acoustic music, this guy is as good as it gets. Dude is insane. He almost turns it into a new instrument in a way.

I sometimes visit http://www.openculture.com to find some links to rare recordings of good music. I was just listening today to some Miles Davis I found there.

Open Culture link to Van Morrison and Bob Dylan singing "Knockin' on Heavens Door"

Sounds like a cool show. Is Bama Jam an annual event? I'm still waiting for the opportunity to go to Bonnaroo. Saw some footage of Railroad Earth's performance there, and it was great...wish I could have went.

Here are a couple really good rock groups from Scotland.

Twin Atlantic:

Biffy Clyro:

I heard them both on 104.9 The Gump first.

BTH, you and I share similar tastes in music. All good suggestions. I've gone through the gambit of bands in the Lafayette area. Played bass for a radio rock cover band (we did play some originals as well), bass for what you would probably call a "scene" band, and then the last band was sort of a pop rock band.

As I've gotten older, I find myself disliking the traditional "scene" band more and more and getting drawn to many bands who don't necessarily fall into that genre.

Here's another favorite of mine from Railroad Earth. No video, but the song is great.

Completely different sound, lol, but here's another band I always liked...but they've broken up I believe. The Mars Volta. I kind of hear some Zeppelin influence in there for this song at least.

Simply Awesome.

I don't know very much about this band other than this song, but this song always relaxes me. Just a really chill song.
