If they don't mind the losses of Old Dominion, George Mason and Georgia State then sure, why not?

So "no" to SBU, Albany, Vermont, and Holy Cross, as NE and Hofstra are stuck with no where to go. Looks like America East is fine with just UMass-Lowell from DII.

I had to look them up, seems like adding Stoney Brook for all sports would be better to me

Yea, you would have to think that SB's all sports add would be in addition to this. But that assumes that the CAA is operating with a hint of common sense.

pretty sure SB has no interest in a full CAA invite right now. Same with Albany.
Just another Yeager f up....he should have forced UA/SB into an all or nothing situation.

^I don't think you can pin that on Yeager. I continue to believe that Hofstra is responsible for obstructing Stony Brook's membership. That probably doesn't make sense to Virginians in a conference that once had 6 Virginian members, but that's what we do in the Northeast. We can't stand being associated with our neighbors, unless our neighbors are more prestigious than us and will make us look good. Even the Ivy Leaguers can't stand sharing the same state. (Don't believe your maps, upstate New York and NYC are different states.)

I am of the opinion no northern members will be added until southern members are secured for UNCW and CoC. Hofstra blocking Stony Brook would be the dumbest thing ever, but you may be right. Northeastern universities have a reputation for making dumb decisions in terms of conference expansion and admission

Would Hofstra want SB in the same conference with them? I would think the answer is no.

According to CAAZone, sounds like the CAA is set on Elon for the South and Albany for the north. No to Fairfield, Hofstra continues its win streak of blocking Stony Brook, and Davidson might still be possible.

Hofstra needs to hit the road then....they have been a disaster add (killed fball, bball program a legal disgrace) to the CAA. Their women's softball team doesn't begin to make up for the garbage. I would take SB every single time over Hofstra.

Both Elon and Albany all sports. Hofstra will not tolerate Stony Brook in anything but football. Practically unheard of for an AAU school to be blocked from membership at the CAA level by a lesser school.
With the possible loss of Albany, maybe NJIT gets in America East.

Oddly enough there was a lot of talk several years back when Hofstra killed its football program, that it coveted Fordham's A-10 spot. Supposedly the A-10 was not happy with Fordham's lack of commitment to its sports programs. Hofstra thought it was the logical alternative for the A-10 to turn to so as to keep a presence in the NYC metro area.
