Hack a Twitter Feed..drop the Dow 150 points
So yesterday the AP twitter account was hacked and a tweet went out saying that the White House had been bombed and Obama injured. The market then tanked 150 points on the news.

The scary thing about all this is the drop was all computer generated based on high volume selling initiated by the algorithms. I'd say it's about time to reassess how much power we give computers over our markets.

Sorry Robert. Cheering the death of Americans is exlusive to you on these boards.

Talk about Market Manipulation. Who bought in large when it hit the bottom?

I'd be okay with a mandated computer trading execution lag, with a random blur factor so that the queue isn't executed in the order it came in on.

Almost nobody knows about the Goldman Sachs lightning transaction system. They can see your trade coming in, and execute a trade ahead of it. They literally trade in YOUR future when they already KNOW your future.

That's why we gave them a bail out. We don't want them failing when they have our future in their hands.

Where there is a way to make an extra buck, sooner or later someone will make that extra money.
