RE: FB: Memorable Games ?
I've only been following MT athletics since 2008, so I don't have a long history of memorable games, but the one I remember the most is our game against FAU (2008).

This one is pretty memorable as well even though we lost; this was the same year as the FAU game.

Yep. I enrolled at Southern Miss that fall, and my first three games cheering on the Golden Eagles were the 3 point loss in Knoxville, that game against Bama and the 28-6 win over Oklahoma State! Then, my first in-person game was the Black & Blue Bowl the following week!

In addition the the '00 Bama game, the '03 TCU game ("Priceless!") and '04 Nebraska games stand out in my mind as well, as well as the '04 Cal game that was postponed by hurricane and we held close until the very end... I'm not one for moral victories, but we put up a great game against a much higher ranked opponent, who expected to have a cake walk to the Rose Bowl.

But honestly, the most memorable game for me has to be the C-USA Championship game against Houston two years ago. What a performance we put on in that game. I was watching with the DC chapter of the USM Alumni Association and we had a blast!

2002 the defending Rose Bowl Chamos Illinois came down to Hattiesburg. This was the 1st game i took my oldest son to & the worst officiated game in USM history (yes even worse than games vs alabama). We won & Derrik Nix had a great game in some nasty weather.

Oh yeah, that was the game where our receiver spiked the ball after an incomplete pass and the refs called it a fumble and gave Illinois the TD....

For MT,

I'd like to add our 2 wins over Maryland, our New Orleans Bowl win over Southern Miss, and our 4? Div 1-a Wins over Vanderbilt, including the most recent one that kept Jay Cutler out of a bowl his senior season. (Jay Cutler never went to a bowl game as a college player)

RE: FB: Memorable Games ?
2010 Tulsa. 51-49 ECU. What a way to christen the expansion.
2009 Championship game against Houston. 38-32 ECU. Keenum had to be picked up off the ground after nearly every pass.
2009 USM. 25-20 ECU secured the win by blocking an extra point and running it back for two.
2008 WVU. 24-3 ECU. Payback for the severe beatings WVU gave us the previous couple years.
2007 BSU. 41-38 ECU. I called the exact score a week before the game at work, including the game winning field goal as time expired. Wish I had been in Vegas.
2007 UNC. 34-31 ECU. Tar Heels first trip to Greenville, game winning field goal.
2006 NCSU. 21-16 ECU. State lowered the goal posts with about a minute to go to keep ECU from kicking an insurance field goal. Pirate flags hung from suites at Carter Finley stadium during the second half.

1999 Miami @ NCSU due to the flood
1996 Miami. 31-6 ECU. Logan tells a story about how Ray Lewis was talking trash even though Miami got their asses handed to them giving up 31 unanswered after taking a 6-0 lead.
1992 Peach Bowl
1991 - entire season, including the BS call in the Illinois game.

Don't forget 2008 beating VT, also in the 90's we owned South Carolina. We also a had a good win against Texas Tech in 2000 in the Gallery Furniture bowl. 1990 last second win against a ranked Pitt team.

Pummeled UVA 61-10 in during the Pat DYE era, beat Stanford 1995 in Liberty Bowl, also beat Syracuse in the 90's. ALl of these are games that stand out to me as Pirate fan.

RE: FB: Memorable Games ?
These were the games I was either at or watching, or listening to on the radio. Pre-1991 was before I paid much attention to college football.

I was there for the 08 VT game, but it didn't feel like that big of a win given the previous year's game in Blacksburg. I know ECU continues to lose to VT, but I view them as the 'next rung up the ladder' and not so much a big win anymore. I fully expect ECU to beat VT comfortably this year.

Because I'm old & we're now conference foes:

The 1984 I-AA semifinal playoff game with LaTech. Bulldogs won a tough battle 21-13 after we beat Indiana State 42-41 in triple overtime the week prior.

We started one of the most exciting tailbacks in MT history in Vince Hall and ended the season 11-3.

UAB defeats #17 East Carolina 36-17 with a backup QB and amazing game
from d-back Rodregis Brooks who returns to the game after being carted off the field
with what looked to be a serious injury.

Yep...they got us back for that 58-14 butt stomping we put on them in Tallahassee in '81....

I was in school then and talked to several players that all told the same story. It was magical in the first half. We scored every time we touched the ball 31-0. Then oc Whitey Jordan addressed the team, asking the srs if they remember their freshman year. Fsu had come to hb and were just beginning their climb in the polls. (They happened to go to their first orange bowl that year.) Jordan reminded them " You boys remember they were ahead of us by 10 late in the game, and used all their time outs to get the ball back and go score another touchdown?? Its payback time, lets go beat those sum ******* JUST AS BAD AS WE CAN!

My most memorable, I was just a kid and didn't understand what was said in the papers that week. It was Oct 17,1970. Just a few days earlier, a guy named Archie Manning qb of the no 4 ole miss webels said, we shouldn't have to play Southern. They are a third rate school.
Archie basically got beaten to death that day. Mike Dennery's performance was honored by his being named National lineman of the week. Wee Willie Hieldberg scored 3 td's as the Southerners Beat the mighty rebels for the first time in history 30-14. My oldest brother was a student at usm at that time. He didn't go to the game that week like he usually did. He came home and we spent the day working on the farm and listening to the game on the radio.
When the game ended and we had pulled of what would be called the biggest upset in the south in 50 years, my brother dropped to his knees and cried. I didn't understand it at the time.
Ten years later I was a student at usm, walking from the parking lot at Memorial stadium in Jackson I was called awful names by a group of frat boys wearing white Lacosta shirts and plaid shorts.
We beat the webels 28-22 that day which is another story. but after the game those frat boys were no where to be found. I remembered my brother crying 10 years before and then I understood why.
