Damn you're a moron. Both schools were voted into the league via majority vote. The C7 were leaving whether or not we were added. Fox made sure of it.

Why, after watching Ga State get run out of just about every stadium they played in (including the dome) over the last three years, would anyone think that an upstart program can win 7, 8, or 9 games in their first year?

And believe it or not, I don't mean this reply as an insult to Ga State. I'm saying it because it doesn't matter if you have an FBS monicker by your name, you still haven't played a single game...meanwhile every one of your opponents (who have at least 50 players with multiple college games under their belts) are going to be licking their chops to beat an "FBS" team.

It doesn't matter if Charlotte has more "scholarship" players. Ga State played a number of teams that had zero scholarships, and yet they still lost. You don't just show up and win because you decided one day to start a football program, then hand out scholarships to 85 people.

I don't know. Call me crazy. But I just don't see them winning more than 2-3 games. Doesn't matter if you've heard of them. Ask Ga State what a Lambuth is.
ODU and USA both had very solid first seasons.

UTSA had a pretty good record in their second season.

Early program success is definitely possible. Sustaining that success against more talented teams is what remains to be seen (although ODU has done a good job so far).

Didn't GaSo win the national championship in their 3rd and 4th years as a program? And now some GaSo fans don't think another school can do the same (and by same I mean be successful, obviously Charlotte, ODU, UTSA, USA, and GaSt aren't competing for FCS championships)?

Considering that most recruiting services had them almost low man on the totem pole, I don't think it did. 247sports had ODU ranked 16th in CUSA and National Rank 124. Only ULM, GA State, Buffalo and Army was ranked lower.

And if you wouldn't rather be in the AAC, then

I like the teams in CUSA, but I'd rather be in the AAC with ECU.

Not saying you can't have a successful program. I just don't see how anyone can predict a 9 win season (not that you have) when the team hasn't played a down yet. Beyond the first year, I'm not predicting anything.

Not unless you hired a guy named erk russell.
Anyway, nobody is saying charlotte can't compete. What I'm saying is that to compare gsu's chances in fbs to charlotte's chances is to ignore the obvious.
Although I will say that charlotte is in a weaker conference than gsu now. So maybe you can have gsu-style success. Who knows.

I'll be happy with a winning record. Anything better than 1 game over a winning record is icing on the cake to me.

Our second year isn't much stronger than the first. I think we're scheduled to play you guys though? If so, that game will be ugly.

Right. Ninernation? Takes more than 15,000 fans and a hole dug in the ground to make a nation or a football program for that matter.

03-lmfao

yeah ok. You guys will be playing in a division that is like 95% recent FCS moveups your first year in the Belt.

We'll have to play Marshall, MTSU, WKU, and the Florida schools. ODU will be the only other school in our division moving up from FCS.

No schools in the Belt have histories of sustained success. All schools have had good years and bad years. You can't look at one season and say the SBC is suddenly a better conference.

That's like stepping outside on a cold day and saying global temperatures are falling.
