Memphis and Shreveport seem to be in the Big 12's future. This could also open up the possibility of a bowl in St. Louis to target the Kansas schools and Iowa State.

They could replace the BE in the Russell Athletic Bowl to get a new Florida based bowl

If they pick up a FL bowl and a TN bowl, they'll have to drop about 4 bowls (2 that the TN and FL are replacing, plus one or 2 others to get down to 6-7 bowls). 8 bowls for 10 teams, playing a 9 game schedule is way too many. Most years, if they put 2 teams in BCS, they'll need 9 bowl eligible teams out of 10. Never, ever happen. If the Music City/Libery and Russell are added, 2 will have to be dropped at least. Plus, probably 1-2 others will likely have to be dropped due to going from 12-10 teams. I guess the question is, which bowls are they looking to get out of. I know the pinstripe is one, what would the 2-3 others be.

Bowlsby is advocating the taking of your bowl. I go past his office in Irving at least once a month so I can drop off any hate mail you'd like!

My guess:
Current:
Fiesta
Cotton
Alamo
TempeVW3
Holiday
Houston/Meineke
Pinstripe
Dallas/Heart of Texas
New:
Sugar
Alamo
Fl bowl
Holiday or Tempe
Meineke
Tenn Bowl
+/- Dallas Heart of Texas

So basically you think AZ or Holiday, Pinstripe, and possibly Dallas are going away? Dallas would give you 7. Bowlsby said in article B12 would have 5 or 6. 6 is probably ideal, especially if you put 2 in BCS. When you play 9 conf. games, you will have more teams with losing records. That's the downside of going to 9, more chances for conference losses and less bowl eligible teams, as opposed to fattening up on non conf. schedules.

Until the final details on the new playoff games are settled, no other bowls will be finalized. We shall see what happens soon enough...

How about the MAC champ or #2 against a Big 12 team in St. Louis (or someplace like that) for a minor bowl? It would be driveable for everybody.

That could happen as early as today. It's for sure going to occur in the next few days.

It's not clear to me if the 5 or 6 included the Sugar or not. The tone of the article made be wonder if that number was the number of non playoff/BCS agreements.
The league had 9 bowl eligible teams last year (albeit it was a perfect storm with lots of parity). 10 team leagues on average tend to have about 7 bowl eligible teams, with 8 not being unheard of. I would think the league would have the Sugar/BCS plus 6 others, plus maybe a secondary agreement with a bowl if it is a year with a bunch of eligible teams.
