In some ways, I think it stabilizes their conference too if it hinders the ability for the Pac-12, Big 12 and ACC to be raided.

BFD, quite frankly. We'll get paid $2 million a year forever!

From CBS: I don't know anything about Jeremy Fowler.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...ights-deal

Also from that article:
Quote:The league is evaluating the viability of a channel with ESPN, which is gathering info and will get back to the league soon. From what I'm told, league members are encouraged about those talks so far.

I'm still not convinced GoRs are unbreakable.

I dunno. There's still a lot of speculation not as to "if" but "when" the Big 12 expands back to 12. I don't think ANY ACC school was ever interested, but now even their most irrational fans will have to back away from FSU/Clemson rumors.

Once Louisville went to the ACC, if the B12 wants 12, I think Cincy is next in line, whether or not it's in tandem with BYU or UConn.

I hope so anyway.

I think this forces the Big 12 to look at Cincinnati as the #1 expansion candidate in the East now... if you believe the Big 12 will someday get back to, you know, 12.

BJ, here's what I'm referring to: If NBC or ESPN low-balled the conference in rights negotiations because they assumed a domino effect that would have UConn, Cincy or USF out the door. NBC put those protections in place assuming someone was going to leave, but there wasn't a reward to stick around.

Sorry if you interpreted that differently.

I see what you mean, but I think we already signed on with ESPN's match anyway.

Anyway, apologies for making this about UC. Congrats again ACC 04-bow Enjoy!

For those WVU fans who have been spreading bogus realignment rumors for months now, this is effective a nasty crop dusting left in their offices.

Hurray.

Stability for 15 years. By then I'll be 64 and I won't care anymore.

Clearly this is a sign of weakness that can only be remedied by inviting WVU and UCONN.

No contract is. It can be bought out, but it certainly helps kill the rampant rumor mongering from the kooks that have banked their entire theory of realignment on GOR invincibility.

A GOR does make it trickier to exit since such contracts are untested, and if the exit fee also holds, it makes it prohibitively expensive. The combination is brutal. With each passing year a GOR would theoretically get cheaper to buy one's rights back, but the exit fee as written gets more and more expensive. It is also potentially interesting what this might mean about the UMD lawsuit. Perhaps nothing.

The most interesting thing about this news is that it certainly seems like a prelude to an ACC Network.

RE: GOR SIGNED BY ALL 15 SCHOOLS
So since we're now officially locked in in the same media markets and at the very least at the same level of competition as when Maryland announced its departure and Notre Dame & Louisville announced their arrival, will this mean more money per school? I would hope so, since our TV partner(s) will not need to doubt who will be in the ACC In the future. It's win-win - we either stay where we're at, or possibly add a school (or two) that enhances the TV deal.

Funny you should ask, Jeremy Fowler just tweeted...

#ACC file updated: GOR finalized, league to make more than $20M per school per year starting July 1. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...ights-deal

I'm told # ACC annual media rights money, in light of GOR completion, will average $20-plus-million per school starting July 1.

So, Marge Schott, when is FSU leaving for the Big 10 again? I forget when you said it would happen.
