Big Ten Divisions
They are finally going to fix the divisions and those stupid names, thank the Lord. Also, Indiana is said to be in the East (thank you) and Purdue in the West.
So do they expand further after moving to geographical platform?

I think expansion is only a matter of time, but I also think the Big 10 is willing and able to be very patient.
My money is an invite going to UNC and UVa eventually, and sending Indiana to the West, unless they go to 4-team pods.

May have to wait a bit on that...ACC just signed a GOR. Doesn't mean they wont come but could be a while. Or they wont come.

They way I see them having set up the divisions allows the additions of Kansas and Mizzou in the West or Kansas/Mizzou to the west and Virginia to the East.

Should've happened a LONG time ago. The B1G should've grabbed KU and Mizzou during the time Texas A&M was hot on getting out of the Big XII, much better adds than Rutgers and Maryland in my opinion.
Maybe in time my opinion will change, but outside of the obvious academics, the Terps and Scarlet Knights do not scream B1G Ten.
If the conference can work out the GoR for KU, UVA and UNC then do it and get Mizzou for nada while they're at it. 18 schools is a lot, but if any conference can make it work the B1G can.
Split the B1G into 9 schools divisions. The two divisions could be called The Wrestling Division and the Lacrosse Division.

I was actually surprised that the BIG passed on that opportunity when it was available. Md and RU would then have rounded the conference out at sixteen. The ACC fans are all bragging like somehow they have out done the BIG. This conference waited what twenty-two years for the right time to expand to twelve. It will be patient and bide its time till it can strike again. In the mean time it will sit and wait and earn gobs more money than anybody else.

RE: Big Ten Divisions
The ACC fans can talk all they want, why should we care? We are making more money, out doing them in their sport (Basketball), and still better at football most years.
'Cuse lost to Northwestern, Minnesota, and future member Rutgers last year. However, they have a great basketball program, but got beat by Michigan in the Final Four.
Pitt hasn't done anything worth mentioning in recent years in football or even basketball.
Louisville is a superb addition however and I applaud that addition for their conference.
I still think our 3 additions are worth more on the football field (certainly not the court, which is why I think we need Kansas and Mizzou) and in money terms.

Agree. Honestly, if the conference merry-go-round stops here, I think just about everyone (outside of UConn or Cincy) will be happy.

RE: Big Ten Divisions
So how will the conference be structures before they join? Will they leave the divisions as is until Maryland and Rutgers join?

RE: Big Ten Divisions
Will this still feel like one big ten or is it inching towards a close alliance of two conferences?
Or to put it another way: Does it mean anything that big ten football schedules will resemble more of a Venn diagram (7 in division, 2 overlap)?

Hopefully the conference will still add two more schools.
Fingers crossed for Missouri and maybe Kansas, though I've read a decent amount on Vandy. Good thing about those SEC schools is no exit fee and no GOR.
St. Louis and Nashville markets would be nice.

That shouldn't be a surprise, markets have driven expansion since this whole thing started.

RE: Big Ten Divisions
You're lucky Rutgers isn't in New Hampshire.
It will have to grow on me, and since I have no say I'm sure it will.
I've preferred Mizzou and KU for a long time and was really hoping to see them added before Mizzou jumped to the SEC. I know Rutgers and Maryland are good schools, I just don't see them as B1G Ten material yet. I didn't feel that way about Penn State and Nebraska, those were solid sports adds from the get go.

Looking at the map, the Big 10 could have also gone with a north & south divisional set up.
North: Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan St & Northwestern.
South: Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, Ohio St, Penn St, Rutgers & Maryland.
It could have worked and might have been better balanced. Right now the east is definitely the tougher division.
