I was vocally against the appeal, but went to the bowl and stayed in the team hotel. So you back patters can suck it.

We should put that on a t-shirt. It definitely sounds like its worth $1million/year. The hugging is strong with this one.

Wow, that's impressive. I mean, really impressive.

Who wins an appeal with the NCAA? I'm sure it's happened, but I've never seen it.

I've never understood the constant contempt towards GOL from a lot of UCF fans. UCF was a dumpster fire before he got there and he's won 4 division titles, 2 C-USA championships, 2 bowls, and finished in the top 25 1 time. In terms of the non-AQ landscape that's pretty good.

Same here.

I didn't want us to risk this season, but hey! Maybe our administration's hunches were really strong.

26-14 with 2 bowl wins over the last 3 years. That's a 65% winnin percentage...

Oh if I could only cherry pick dates in life.

You're the one cherry picking, Firm. KNIGHT TIME pointed out UCF's record over the last 3 years. You're implying that what happened over the last 3 years doesn't matter. So you're more concerned about what the team did 4 or more years ago than about what they've accomplished the last 3 years? 01-wingedeagle

Some people think we can be just like UF and should have been like them 5 years ago. That's the only explanation I can think of.

But more seriously, the only main knock is consistency and performance against BCS teams. When in reality, the vast majority of non-AQs will struggle against AQ teams especially when they only have 1-2 shots at them per season. Missouri, though, even I'm still pissed over that one.

The consistency is an issue too with the yo-yo seasons. But now all of a sudden in the last 4 years, there have been 3 winning seasons and bowl appearances. With at least a winning season this year, we're sitting at 4 out of 5 winning seasons. Eventually that consistency knock will be very old too.

Its the "emo" generation mostly....they don't get it and will never ever get it.

They would rather have a "BFF" than someone who had to completely rebuilt a football program, like you noted, was in squalor when he arrived.

Heck, one main "hater" in this thread who HATED GOL from the get-go just because of "words from others", never even met the man or heard him speak during his first 5-6 years at UCF...and after he did hear him speak he said (paraphrase) "Dang...he's a funny guy and even personable, no clue why I listened to my friends who supposedly had".

I will never care if my coach is a BFF or not...as long as they are working hard for my school.

RE: UCF wins appeal of NCAA postseason ban
I will say, that if we show the same improvement that we did from before C-USA to during C-USA (i.e. win multiple championships and show up for conference games in the AAC) there will be no question GOL would be the winningest coach in school history. Quite frankly I like what he's done and how he's doing it. Sure we don't have a lot of marquee wins but people definitely know about us more than in the Kruczek era.

This reply should be the statement of the entire thread, and another feather in GOL's cap. This appeal was entirely George's idea and was spearheaded by him. No one, not even Hitt deserves the credit more than he does, and for him we have a chance to actually be an AQ team for a year. If George can get us to the Orange Bowl just this once...

AAC will probably go to Fiesta assuming no non-AQ party crashers. Orange picks first, then Sugar then Fiesta last.

I am saying that the entire record should be evaluated including the probation and the death of Erick Plancher. I would love to cherry pick the stock market over the past year instead of looking at it in 2008. GOL has served his purpose and its time for him to go, 3-4 years from now you will agree that he should have left earlier.

Growing up in Atlanta, I'm very familiar with GOL. I also sat next to him on a 2 hour plane ride 4 years ago and talked the entire time. He's a funny guy, very down to earth. However it is still time for him to go.

Official press release includes a snippet about the IAC ruling:

Quote:In its report about the appeal, the NCAA wrote "the penalty in question was based in significant part on irrelevant factors resulting in an abuse of discretion" by the NCAA Committee on Infractions.

Idiot.

RE: UCF wins appeal of NCAA postseason ban

NCAA release:

Quote:In its appeal of the football postseason ban, UCF cited that the Committee on Infractions does not adequately distinguish between what factored into the basis of the football postseason ban versus the basketball postseason, and therefore should be vacated. In its decision, the Infractions Appeals Committee stated that the rationale for the football postseason ban penalty is so intricately woven with factors only supportive of the basketball postseason ban that it is impossible to determine whether the additional factors formed a significant basis for the Committee on Infractions to impose the football postseason ban. The record creates the appearance that the Committee on Infractions relied on material factors not present for a particular sport to assess the penalty. Therefore, the Infractions Appeals Committee determined the football postseason ban is excessive such that it constitutes an abuse of discretion and vacated the penalty.
