Herd Vision

We have started a building campaign that is going to build 30 million dollars in facilities.

Last year Marshall bought the Veterns Memorial Fieldhose, demolished it and is now starting to build Veterns Memorial Soccer Complex and Veterns Memorial Park. The Soccer complex is scheduled to be ready for this years soccer season.

Bids have now gone out and will be in soon for Marshall's 120 Yard Indoor Practice Facility. The facility will also have an 8 lane 300 meter track, batting cages and portable tennis courts for pactice and incliment weather. There will also be a capacity of 750 or 1000. Ground breaking on the IPF will be April 26, the day of the Green and White Game.

It also includes a Sports medicine, academic center and Hall Of Fame cener inclusive with the IPF.

So in short we are building:

IPF
Soccer Complex
Hall of Fame
Sports Medicine
Academic Center

And 2 more suites that can be rented out. The suites are not anything with the vision campaign though.

The first pic is construction of a new level of suites at the football stadium. They're being built onto the existing structure. Four 2,000 sq. ft suites, new elevator, new HVAC, new bathrooms for the press area and renovations of existing suites. Will be completed in time for the 2013 season.

They are being built on either side of the top level press box area.

Second picture is construction progress on Marshall's new soccer stadium. It will seat 1,000 and includes men and women's locker room facilities, coaches offices, meeting and film rooms.

Don't let MUTeke lie to you, those are the state of the art press box and stands for the Marshall submarine races.

On a serious note, y'all are making some awesome upgrades to your facilities. I'm jealous, hopefully our next President and AD will have the vision to make major investments into Tech's athletics and facilities.

I don't think you will find many people that don't like our president Dr Steven J Kopp or our AD Mike Hamrick. Dr Kopp is an academic president first but he understands that athletics have a prominat role in growing the university.

Dr Kopp meets with every recruit that comes to Marshall on an offical visit. We have had many recruits say that was a big part in committing to Marshall.

I just assumed that there'd really only be one conclusion as to what type of outdoor facility would be receiving a new (3rd) level of luxury suites...

Thanks. In all honesty, we should have been building these things 10-12 years ago. We might have been a little better positioned in the current round of realignment.

You're preaching to the choir there partner. I firmly believe our lackadaisical attitude towards athletics cost us a CUSA membership in 2005.

In another few weeks I might run and get pictures of both to keep updates coming. Not that I can really get pictures of the luxury boxes from the ground. lol.

Ten, twelve years ago we had a president who was funneling money out of athletics to build the biotech center. And an AD that didn't think we belonged even were we was. Im just glad Dan Angel and Bob Marcum are no longer in charge at Marshall.

The soccer stadium will reportedly be one of the best in the country when complete.

This has been a loooong time coming. Problem with MU is we have very limited space to work with. However since I was a freshman in '98 the campus has a ton of new buildings and expansion. It's actually pretty amazing how MU does it.

Looks like it won't be a full floor. I guess one on each end could be added in the future if demand warrants.
