He's starting to sound like a pretty damn good player.

Johnson is a good player, super fast. Can he play point, IMO he needs time.

Would guess that he will be a prime candidate to redshirt this year.

Yes, but both were specifically recruited to play PG at the college level. Don't recall Cronin saying anything about Johnson playing PG or not.

Caupain is the guy they recruited in this class to be a pg. KJ will be a 2 in a similar role to Dion Dixon, where he can be the secondary ball handler on the floor.
Hopefully he turns out to be better than Dion. Appears he has a better shot.

There was a lot about Dixon's game that I really liked. I'd have liked him more if he had realized he was not a 3 point shooter.

I've seen him on the AAU circuit and 2 AAU all star games. He was the fastest guy on the floor but he tried to force things to much for my taste. Everything was right to the basket like Cash early in his career. He just needs some time to adjust, Im still glad he's a Bearcat.

I'll take a guy who forces things around the basket over a guy who forces 3s all game

I was thinking along those lines too. A guy who goes to the basket too much? If he can avoid the obvious pitfalls (fouls, turnovers, blocks etc.) I'm all for it.
BTW, for those that want to read more, I'll give GameTime a plug:
Kevin Johnson

It sounds to me like people are describing Russ Smith from Louisville when they are talking about KJ. I have not seen KJ play...is that a comparable player / type?

Smith has a deadly outside shot, KJ with time could be a good comp

Smith was only a 32% three point shooter last year. His game is based on an almost otherworldly quickness. I don't really see that same quickness in KJ...

Going to the basket alot means nothing better than an outside shooter. I can go to the basketball all day long, if I can't penetrate and get into the lane with some authority, I kick the ball around, the ball is stolen or I'm hung up at the key, what good is going to the basket all the time. He has great ability and quickness and that should aide him in all areas. He needs coaching to get open, get into seams and penetrate.
OVERRATED:
Dixon was a good player and I enjoyed watching him. It's funny how UC fans will knock their own players and coaches. Go to a UL area and you will be hard pressed to find ONE person speaking negatively about anything in the UL program and/or it's players. Dixon was a fine player and I'm glad I was able to see him play.

Well that is about as far from untrue as you can get. I have family that goes to UL and when I go to visit, the exact opposite is the case with all the guys ive come across. They are the same as every other fan. If a player does something stupid, they voice their frustration and opinions just like everyone else.
Siva missed a few shots in a row and every single person in the bar started shouting pass the fu****** ball you arent as good as you think you are...and they are saying that about a 4 year senior leader
So id have to say, fans from all around are the exact same. Some fans are the annoying cheerleaders who never say anything other than oo good shot good try youll get em next time (after he shoots 5 horrible shots in a row) and some fans (who are also giant fans of the GAME in general) look for perfection in the game. Yes I know no one is perfect and there will be mistakes in every game you watch. Its the stupid mistakes that get me. The illegal screens, the 3 point shot with a hand in the face and 20 seconds on the shot clock, the missed layups/freethrows.
People react to things differently, but to say UL fans neveer have anything bad to say and UC fans are the only ones who ever do (basically what i get from people on this board in general) is just a lie

Before he played very well in the Final Four UL fans were ready to run Chane out of town. Why? Because he didn't play well for a month and a half...

During the game, I'm pretty sure a bunch of UL fans wanted to kill Smith too.
