RE: Postseason projections
LSU would make sense for the NCAA since it is in bus distance so it saves money.

In most years, yes...but not this year (as several pointed out in previous posts) since there are a disproportionate number of southeastern schools in the post-season this year, and relatively few Western schools. Yet there are 4 Western host sites that have to be filled, along with two mid-west/northern sites (Manhattan, KS and Bloomington, ID). Sending us to one of those 6 sites would be more cost-effective than sending a Florida, Alabama or Carolina school out West.

SF as one of the final at large teams selected as our #3 seed and North Dakota St. as #4. Long distant travel, but I'd much rather have Oregon than Oregon State or CSF (or any of the other national seeds). Pretty favorable for us, IMO.

Haha. Nice. Makes me wonder if Greenspan's gonna make the trip.

One story line: Two of the best coaches in college baseball, Graham and Horton, meeting again.

Hopefully, we'll be meeting again-- on Saturday, in the winners bracket.

Ain't that the case!

Here's my rundown of the accuracy of the pundits' last projections, ordered in descending order of missed regional assignments for the 2/3/4 seeds:

Perfect Game: -28. No correct national seeds, 3 correct regional pairings (including Oregon-NCState, but with NCState as the #7 seed; also UNC-USCar & Fullerton-UCLA, which was nearly a gimmie), 1 correct regional (Baton Rouge). 4 predicted teams not in the field: Auburn, Campbell, Liberty & Seton Hall.

Baseball Daily: -33. 3 correct seeds (Vanderbilt, Fullerton & Virginia), 1 correct pairing (Fullerton-UCLA) & 1 correct regional (UCLA). 4 predicted teams not in the field: Auburn, Campbell, Liberty & Seton Hall.

SEBaseball: -34. 1 correct seed (Oregon), 3 correct pairings (Corvallis-Manhattan, UNC-USCar & Fullerton-UCLA), 2 correct regionals (LSU & Fullerton). 7 predicted teams not in the field: Auburn, Ball State, Campbell, Citadel, Liberty, Notre Dame & Seton Hall. (Missing the AQs is plain sloppy!)

BaseballAmerica: -35. 2 correct seeds (Fullerton & Virginia), 4 correct piarings (UNC-USCar, Corvallis-Manhattan, Fullerton-UCLA & Eugene-NCState (but with NCState as #7 seed!)), 1 correct regional (LSU). 4 predicted teams not in the field: Auburn, Campbell, Liberty & Seton Hall.

Chasing Omaha: -38. 1 correct seed (Oregon), 1 correct pairing (Fullerton-UCLA), no correct regionals. Nine predicted teams not in the field: Auburn, Ball State, Campbell, Liberty, Maine, North Florida, Notre Dame, Seton Hall & Western Carolina.

(I did not track the accuracy of #2 or #3 seed projections. I also overlooked the couple of directionally challenged pundits who had NORTH -- not South -- Dakota State in the field. I may also have missed some of the predicted-but-not-in teams. I welcome corrections.)

Actually, Ginger missed three teams...Liberty MADE the tourney in the South Carolina Regional.

Thanks for the correction. Somehow I missed that with everyone!
