Regardless, I bet I'm the only one on here with one of these:
Cool did you get it on eBay from a former player?

RE: Conference Champion or Bowl Champion
Was that for Troy's 5th Sun Belt Conference Championship, therefore the five rubies?

In theory, you could go to a bowl game with a 6-6 record or if you are GT with a losing record..... But I don't see many conference champions getting by with a .500 record. Most people will forget who won which bowl the next year.
More people watched ANY bowl game on TV over the FCS championship game.
What was the viewership for the stAte/MT game that settled the conference championship?
While most people will forget who won which bowl, those same people, having never seen the SBC championship will probably not even know who the champ was in the first place.
First off, who said anything about the FCS Championship Game? Do you think because we are newbies to the conference that that is all we can talk about? Second, who said anything about TV viewership at all or how many people watched a particular bowl game or conf champ game?
This thread is about opinion and I gave mine. You are more than welcome to have yours as well. All that I am saying is that I would prefer that my team won a conference championship more often than a bowl game. As I said a conf championship to me means my team is winning more games than it's losing and overall that means more to me than the possibility of winning one specific game at the end of what could have very well been a 6-6 season. That to me is not success in the long run.
I get what you're saying... and if we were playing in the SEC then yes I'd want Conference championships over Bowl wins.
But we aren't playing in a big time conference... we are playing in the Sun Belt.
In the Sun Belt, you aren't going bowling if you are "6-6". So you're point is invalid for this discussion as we are purely talking about the Sun Belt. My point is... if you are going to a bowl and you played in the Sun Belt, you either had 7,8, or 9 wins. Which means you have the same circumstance that you were just saying you prefer, to be WINNING more games than you lose.
For me, that is why I'd prefer Bowl Wins while in the Sun Belt than Conference Titles any day. Because you get the best of both worlds, you get a winning season, and you get to say you beat a formidable foe from another conference in a post season game.
Would you agree under these circumstances that we are right in wanting bowl wins?

I did get it from a former player, but not off ebay. He is a friend of mine.
You might be surprised how many people on "the inside" at Troy I know.
In case anyone cares, the ring in the picture is called "The Dynasty Ring." It was Troy's 5th SBC football title in a row, it also has the NO Bowl score on one side, so it doubles as the bowl ring too.
