Makes sense. My point was Gray's continued reliance on those generation-ago wins anytime some downgrades Memphis football on these boards. The fact that the "comeback" involves something from 40 years ago is telling.
Memphis has a high fan

I am not high. I wish people would not reinforce negative stereotypes about Memphians. We don't shoot up and get high all day. We are normal folks.

I don't think he was stereotyping Memphis fans, I think he was accurately depicting YOUR constant state of mind.

I am very intellectual. You want to talk about BOD,COD, nitrate, nitrite, and temperature testing. If you want to engage in water chemistry talk I am open to it.

Water chemistry talk on a sports board...yeah, that's topical. How about we start with basic things like English first? 03-wink

I'd rather talk about your hallucinogenic drug use. Memphis fans are a little crazy, but you're nuttier than a squirrel turd.

You haven't beaten us in almost 10 years. Our Air Raid is too powerful for Pac 12 and SEC teams to stop. If they have trouble, what makes you think MEMPHIS would stop it? LOL

Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Southern Cal fans once said such things.

Never happen may be a tad extreme, but how long can Memphis live off these wins? The victories were against:

3-8 Southern Cal in 1991
7-5 Florida in 1988
7-5 Bama in 1987
2-8 Auburn in 1976
3-6-2 Auburn in 1975

THANK YOU. I'm so sick of GA's ignorance when posting this stuff. Like we're too dumb to look up how bad those programs sucked when Memphis beat them.

Never happen may be a tad extreme, but how long can Memphis live off these wins? The victories were against:
10-2 #6 Tennessee in 1996
3-8 #16 Southern Cal in 1991
7-5 #14 Florida in 1988
7-5 #15 Bama in 1987
2-8 Auburn in 1976
3-6-2 #7 Auburn in 1975

most of those teams were ranked when we played and beat them. Not our fault they tanked afterwards. (#14 Florida went 7-5 after Emmitt Smith broke his leg in a 17-11 Tiger win) (USC went 3-8 after Heisman Trophy candidate Mazio Royster hurt his knee, and did not play in the second half. He was never the same that season)
You can also add #6 Tennessee to that list.

We scored at least 35 points in almost every game after we fired our OC immediately after the Texas State disaster. Read up on your stats and whatnot before commenting.

against the likes of Rice, UTEP, UAB, Tulane, etc.
VE-RY impressive.
Didn't see you beat any SEC or Pac12 schools on that schedule however. Your post said SEC & Pac12 schools had trouble stopping your offense...maybe when Sumlin was there....but not anymore. UCLA did pretty ok...

To put things in perspective, I was a member of the '76 squad and receive direct mailers from AARP on a weekly basis.

hah ha, i was cheering for you in the stands when you beat auburn, old man...a friend of mine played against you for auburn and told me that memphis was the most athletic team they played that year. my aarp mailers are coming soon. 04-cheers

there is no team on our schedule next year, that if we were to win, would make it into the top 5 all time Tiger upsets.

Old people are funny and smell like mothballs.

My highlight game was Tennessee (I was freshman) and I was one of the first onto the field.

My parents were at the Ole Miss game back in the day.
