3 people will have to be fired and a new stadium will need a leading man before someone admits failure in drafting Ponder

Because there are dozens of other guys out there who have played WR all their lives and wouldn't have to be trained how to play the position at the NFL level. It's all about risk and reward, and we all know how risky decisions turn out -- sometimes a boom, sometimes a bust.

RE: Joe Webb back to WR?
He was drafted as a prospect at WR.
He was moved as a prospect to QB.
Until the Vikings decide that they want to utilize him & not have him as a prospect he will not see serious action at any position.
I think Joe has been very cooperative with the Vikings through every step of the way.

While I understand what you are saying here, Joe has the speed and size to make him an elite NFL wide receiver. He was a 6th round pick, meaning he should fail more often than not. He is listed at 6'4" 220, and for comparison, Calvin Johnson is listed at 6'5" 236. While Webb likely doesn't have the wingspan to cover a 2 car garage like CJ does, he probably does have enough tools to turn into a very solid NFL WR.
The bottom line is that if the Vikings weren't ever planning on using him as anything more than an emergency QB, they completely wasted a talented guy who could have been useful for them in a variety of ways.

He was drafted by a coach who likes athletic qbs who can run. That coach got fired. If he still had the job joe probably would have gotten more reps in an offense more suited to his ability. **** happens

**** He was drafted as an athlete as in possibly a WR, not a QB. The coach alone does not draft the players, it is the front office making the call along with the coach & staff ****

Yeah, and when it comes to drafting, it is much more likely that the front office is going to make a decision and overrule the coach than the other way around. Joe still has plenty of time left, but he has wasted some good learning years on the bench for a **** organization in my opinion. It took these ding dongs a few years to end the T-Jax experiment, and they never gave Joe a chance. Why even put the guy on your roster if you aren't going to try and get him on the field?

RE: Joe Webb back to WR?
I'd love to see Joe break out and become a starter, be given a chance to show what he can do. Still, even more, I root for him to be able to stay in the league long enough to make his pension. For now, he's getting big money to hold a clipboard and not get the crap knocked out of him.
For 2013, here are the NFL league minimum salaries:
Rookie - $405k
1 year - $480k
2 years - $555k
3 years - $630k
4-6 - $715k
I've said it before... if he can make vested in the NFL retirement program and make this kind of money along the way, he's set for life. On a personal level, away from the playing field, this is a huge win for him.
