RE: Wish PJ success
I think he'll be able to recruit well, the way he is. Can he be a good head coach? Who knows?

I agree and understand that putting much weight into a verbal right now is pretty dumb...probably a 50/50 chance that they end up signing him. That being said, PJ is generating a ton more interest and excitement in recruiting than we are, and we just came off of a BCS bowl game. At least 3-4 star players are considering and talking about WMU. No one questioned if he would be able to recruit though so we'll see how things turn out.

He should have stayed as our OC, took over at the OB, and be creating all this buzz for us... Sigh....

No proof that he can actually be a head coach of anything. It's water under the bridge now, all the people he had a relationship with Compher, Doeren, etc. are all gone. Would never rule out him not returning here, but the chances of him coming back at this point is highly unlikely.

If he has any measure of success at WMU he'll be out the door so quick your head will spin. If he doesn't succeed there he'll be fired. Either way in 3 years he's gone from there plus or minus a year.

There were public statements about why he left and there is the back story that we will never know. I sensed that somehow, someway he and coach Doeren must have had an early conflict that they could not resolve and he was out the door almost overnight.

I never bought the public explanation about why he left. It would have been fun to see what he could have done as HC at NIU but I think that door is closed and it is unlikely that it will ever reopen.
