It is actually 2.6 million over five years. In the interest of full disclosure, Russell is owned by Berkshire Hathaway. Berkshire Hathaway's CEO is Warren Buffett. His distant cousin is Jimmy Buffett, who is a Southern Miss grad. The new deal is about six times what Nike was paying us, but the Nike deal was for football only. The new Russell deal will encompass all athletic teams for which Russell designs for. Shoes will still be provided by Nike. Rumor has it that Russell is building an ad campaign around us.

One more thing to point out is that the uniforms will likely include new branding. Under the handshake deal we have with Iowa's legal team, we are going to begin phasing out the angry eagle in the near future. The first sign of that will be the words "Southern Miss" attached to the angry eagle wherever it goes in an official capacity. Rumor has it that a new version of the attack eagle is in the works to replace the angry eagle. I doubt we see any of that as early as Wednesday, though (expect mid-July when the new turf is finished).

In the interest of disclosure, Buffet wrote a check for Fruit who stole Russel for next to nothing. FoL is .5% of B. Hathaway. Russel's earnings are in the roundings of BH's annual reports....You cousin's brother twice removed who knew a guy at BH does not mean that much. Russel gives everyone pretty decent deals. UL has great Russel uni's, and i may or may not have got a sneak peak at the new WKU threads, and trust me they will be a showpiece.

I have heard rumors that Southern Miss has been working for some time on a revamped Attack Eagle. This is an older but updated version of the attack eagle that Rec Sports used some time ago. From what I am hearing I am putting a 50% chance there is a new primary logo on Wednesday but I've been wrong before.

I'd prefer just a vicious looking eagle claw with sharp talons on the sides of the helmets. I think that would very unique.

I just made a simple joke based off the Colt McCoy comment, wasn't trying to start anything, I wasn't talking smack about BG.

Like the feather logo we used on those helmets, wish they would let students and alumni vote on a new logo.

Looks like we have some fine ones from the new schools that will be replacing some of the morons from the bolting schools. Carry on!

That was the helmet I was most excited to see, in the Hawaii Bowl game....



Hope we put it on both sides as our new helmet! It might not look bad on a gold helmet either...
