Nothing would surprise me...but that is bargain basement pricing. As a former gambler, you roll with the odds. Today, I take us at less than two td fave. After the spring game, I may have a different opinion. Who knows what it will be at the beginning of the season.

But Troy favored by 12 over UAB....that one I wlll hang my hat on for UAB to cover.

Southern Miss will cover that line 2x. Remember Fedora's first game in Hattiesburg vs a cupcake team (ULL)? We ran up 633 yards of offense and blew them out 51-21. I expect Monken to use this as a glorified scrimmage and to run up tempo the entire game to set expectations and work out the kinks. There will be no mercy.

I agree we won't show any mercy against what should be an overmatched opponent, but this is a different Southern Miss team and one that is coming off of 0-12. I just worry about the lingering effects of that. You have players out there who need to be taught what winning means again. IMHO, you don't just go 0-12 by accident. It takes a persistent and pervasive attempt to do things in such a way that the whole team quits on you as a coach. Once a team quits, starting back up again isn't the default response. I really feel like we are going to be sluggish against Texas State. If that is the case, then, win or lose, it will be against FIU on October 5 before we find out what this team is really made of.

We will beat Miami by more than 8. A lot more.

This is a rivalry game only to the fans right now. The 2 teams have not played a game since 2004 when Stan Hill was QB for Marshall and Josh Betts was QB for Little Miami. Marshall, I think only has 2 people left that I know was even at the stadium that night in Huntington in the capacity of gameday. I don't know if Little Miami has any or not, if so its very few.

None of these kids on the field understand this game or the significance of the score 66-6. If you don't know that was the score of the 1971 Little Miami Marshall game. The year after the crash. Little Miami kept their starters in the whole game and even scored a TD with :06 showing on the clock.

If Little Miami comes within 21 points of Marshall, I would be totally suprised. They lost their 4 year starting QB to grad. and their best WR has been suspended indef. for being arrested and charged with battery, theft and illeagl trusspass on a car.

We have enough guys left from the Fedora era that want to prove last year was all on Elloss. These guys are going to be pissed off and want to get that stink of 0-12 removed by stomping a mudhole in someone. You gotta remember, we were actually competitive with Nebraska until the dumb*** coach started playing QB wheel of fortune. That team had no conditioning and no coaching. This team is going to bounce back pretty quick imo.

I will be disappointed if we don't cover this spread. It probably is where Vegas sees A&M and Rice at this time, but I hope to see the same Rice defense on the field in Aggieland that shut down Air Force.
