I just love Wood Selig's extensive comments regarding CUSA expansion and JMU, followed by this gem...

Comments like that from Bourne really want to make me take my checkbook out and empty my pockets for JMU... ha.

One thing Wood Selig is not afraid of is getting his message out to the media. He is on the radio show here on ESPN 94.1 every Wed afternoon.

Sad that Selig is so vocal about this, yet our own AD can't be found. That says a lot.

Selig is giving lip service, more than likely to make someone in the General Assembly happy. ODU is going to have to rationalize the bonds in an era of tight budgets for a new stadium. They can then say we tried to lower costs by getting JMU in, but CUSA just didn't listen.

That's an interesting take, but it doesn't seem any more or less likely than the other scenarios that posters have thrown out on the boards.

He has had his radio segment for as long as he's been there, it seems. I don't remember him talking about interest in other conferences. There was always plenty to talk about with football and basketball over the last couple of years.

I am still hoping for AAC (nBE)...but looks like CUSA @ 16 teams would put several teams within reasonable travel for JMU:
ODU, Marshall, Charlotte, MTSU, WKY

throw in some trips to FL for FAU and FIU and would be a nice eastern division....would love to see southern miss on the regular rotation as well...

I can't tell if you're serious with your nBE talk, but I hope you realize that there is zero chance of that happening straight out of FCS. It's like me saying, "I am still hoping to win the lottery, but I guess having a job is ok."

I am dead serious, JMU is talking to several FBS conferences. We have relationships with members of AAC...is it a long shot, yes. But, we are in the conversation.

I just think the nBE is an interesting choice. It seems like the ACC or Big Ten would be preferable to the nBE. We have a 0.00% chance of landing in any of those three conferences straight out of FCS, so it's not like one is any more realistic than the others. I know I would certainly rather see us in a Group of 5 conference if we're going to throw out wild ass, zero probability scenarios.

Have to say I'm with rufus on this. While we may be in the conversation, I have a feeling it kind of goes like this:

Bourne to AAC: Hey guys, can we join?

AAC to Bourne: *long pause* HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Not that I wouldn't love for it to happen or that we couldn't (eventually) hold our own.
