JMU Prestige?
If JMU goes to the SBC all-sports, do we lose "prestige"? I mean that most of the schools in the CAA are far better academically than any school in the SBC. Disregard Towson and ODU, of course. However, I'm not sure the addition of Albany or Stony Brook or the College of Charleston help either.
So My question is, do we lose prestige and gain more relevance by moving to the SBC, or keep our prestige and lose any hope of national relevance by remaining in the CAA?

I don't think anyone has ever gained relevance by joining the Sun Belt.

Yes, we'll be much better off in the burnt out shell of the CAA. That's the path to prominence! Who cares if we lose more teams and don't even maintain a basketball autobid? Screw it. CAA for life!

RE: JMU Prestige?
First, SBU is a much more prestigious university than JMU. It is a well respected national research university. JMU is a well respected regional university. Big difference. Secondly, I have to think that by joining the SBC, JMU's "prestige" will take a hit. Those are some bottom of the barrel schools. It would be like joining a conference with 10 ODUs.

I thought C of C was fairly well regarded academically as well. I don't know that for sure, but don't get it mixed up with Coastal Carolina, which is another ODU.
