So, are you saying Penn State fans hate Pittsburgh so much that they don't want to play you?

Sorta... they hate us but they like to see it more like "they look down on us". So, their fans feel they having nothing to gain by playing us, if they win it is no big deal but if they lose it ruins their chance at a national championship (their words). So, their fans LOVE telling us over and over that the rivalry means everything to Pitt and nothing to Penn State.

They say their rivals are Ohio State and Michigan now...

If Penn State loses to Pitt it "ruins their chance at a national championship (their words)".

LOL.

RE: Your top ACC expansion targets
Here's a question you can ask PSU fans (or any Big Ten fan in general)...
How many B1G teams not named Ohio State have played for the championship during the 15 years of the BCS?

(answer: zero, unless you count Nebraska back when they were Big XII).

Current Big Ten: 4
Ohio State has played in 3
Nebraska - 1

Current ACC: 6
Florida State - 3
Miami - 2
Va Tech - 1

ANSWER:
GENERIC B1G FAN: "There's a world-wide conspiracy against us because we are so awesome, and the ACC will be destroyed next year anyway...I saw it on the WVU rivals forum."
PSU FAN: "There's a world-wide conspiracy against us because we are so awesome, and the ACC will be destroyed next year anyway...I saw it on the WVU rivals forum. Oh yeah, I almost forgot: Pitt [stinks]* and Joe Pa was a saint."

I like that line up as well. Lets hope something of this nature can take place. Obviously the big hurdle isn't adding Cincinnati or Penn State it's getting Notre Dame to come on as a full member. Even though I still like the make up of that conference line up. Good work.

To be fair, you did say or UC, and Cinci has been sending everyone xmas cards, so technically you are right. however, lumping PSU in with UC in a way that implies that they are of comperably obtainable is a little much. I think getting ND might be easier than PSU. ND might just transition over the next 20 years or so. Adding [/i]PSU would be a battle.

RE: Your top ACC expansion targets
For me it has to be Cincy, we (Louisville) have a long history, they are an easy two hour drive away road game, they are competitive and have a history of being so.. They would have natural regional rivalries with Pitt, and Va Tech too, I think they would cement the whole Ohio river valley. I will miss them greatly if they are not added in the next round. Being a former BE team they have history with Notre Dame, Louisville, Pitt, and Syracuse, and nobody hates them like many hate UConn.

I'll give you this much, XLance, you ARE consistent.

Actually, I would have to agree that in a limitless universe I would be happy to take S Carolina back into the ACC. There's a lot of history with other ACC teams (even Va Tech).

No interest whatsoever in Vanderbilt, however. If I was picking another SEC team (assuming it was possible), I'd choose Georgia first, Florida second. I suspect UGA would have a negative impact on ACC academics, but there is a lot of athletic history there.

So, in my dream, I guess for the Southern teams we'd get
1. S Carolina
2. Georgia

AND for the Northern teams, we'd get
1. Notre Dame
2. Penn State

Then I woke up, and realized the only teams we are ever likely to add are
possibly Notre Dame (someday)
Cincinnati
Temple
Connecticut

RE: Your top ACC expansion targets
As actual targets I would assume in no particular order you would have to look at Cincinnati, Vandy ( who I would like to see added ) , Tennessee ( wish list for it doesn't hurt to ask ), UConn, possibly guage the intrest in South Carolina. Now if you wanted to I guess West Virginia could be thrown a bone here, but I am sure they would decline due to all that wealth they have come into as being the ***** of the Big12.

Why does everyone thing that Vandy is a possibility? in the 70's maybe, but there is no way they are going to give up their gravy train. USCarolina isn't going to happen either.

And B1G do the same for their 16 teams. Then B1G-ACC forms a super conference like NFL, 32 teams into 2 leagues, 8 pods.

I like GTS' pod arrangement.

My number 1 target would be Maryland.
