I watched the game and the damn umps made a bunch of terrible calls. The instant replays showed how rigged the game was. I know this is a rebuilding year for the cats, but there were plenty of ridiculous calls made.

There was a game in, I think 2009 or 2010, that we were winning. There were runners on and 2 outs. McVaney had been brought in to pitch the 9th. The batter had a 3-2 count and McVaney threw a perfect strike that froze the batter; who immediately started to head to the dugout but the ump gave him 1st base. The next batter got a hit to the outfield and we ended up losing.

The batter later told people he knew it was a strike and was surprised when the ump gave him the walk.

Stuff like this happens every game vs UT and I just wish we'd drop them. No other B12 team games have umpiring issues.

I don't think we'll ever play them in sm for a very long time. Not since the new stadium game opener. The fact is ut doesn't play anyone away unless they have too. Basically big 12 teams. Once our team reloads in the next 1 to 2 years and we become a dominant force again, then we might be able to neogotiate better.

I remember that game .. . now have to go beat my head against the wall to "remove the image...." A moral victory, yes! Out and Out "W" Noooooooo . . . even when we've made the W.S of late, the road's run through Austin . .. . . 03-banghead Am sick of being/getting "close" . . . We may not be at the moment, but in the past 2 years . .we've been good enough .. .I just want us to finally hurdle that wall ... . and put a beat down on TU . . Hell if we can beat a highly ranked Rice team, and I was there to see it, then we can certainly beat BEVO . . . . . Am also sick of our "small college mentality." WE'RE TEXAS STATE: The 5th largest public school in THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS, and it's time that we started Walkin' the Walk. WE'RE BOBCATS! The HIGHEST lifeform on the DAMN PLANET . . .. TIME TO ACT LIKE IT!

You will always have a difficult time beating the Horns at Disch-Falk. Seen it too many times. You have to plan the 9 in Burnt Orange and a few in the dark uniforms. They seem to always get the calls at home.

yes there is a reason they dont leave home very often..pretty much all the other top programs will come to uta to play us but not ut-austin. I would not mind if our ad made future games in austin contingient on some kind of home and home deal..we actually dont NEED to go play them every year. much like the frank broyles days in arkansas, ut does not want to do anything that might legitimize one of the branch programs. Arkansas would never play stAte in any sport..especially not at their place.

RE: TXST vs UT baseball
I pitched for Schreiner College in Kerrville back in the early 90's. We always played UT in the fall, but my senior season, I was fortunate enough to get the start in an official spring game against the Horns. It was a dream come true. However, I had hurt my shoulder the game prior to this start, so all did not go very well. I gave up 4 runs in two innings. The umps were deefinitely serving up some home cooking. It was a close game through 6-7 innings, then came the walks! We ended up tying a record from 1952 for most walks in a game. Some of the UT players then were Brooks Kieschnick, Stephen larkin (Barry's little Bro), Peter Gardere (UT QB; didn't swing the bat all day long). I forget who elses they had, been too damn long ago. Anyway, it was a fantastic experience I will never forget. Also, that year, the only away games they had were conference games where they HAD to go on the road. Every other game was at home.

True story every year. I think they play at home mostly because if they play away the umps won't be able to bail them out.

It's oddly comforting to get validation that it's not just us being paranoid or making excuses about UT baseball games.
