They sorta need two in the West right now. UL and stAte make the most sense. Both tie east and west together and are flexible to go east or west as needed in the future. stAte fills in the map with a new state and UL has a very strong built-in regional appeal.

Makes too much sense for it to happen.

The word was that they promised NMSU after the last round like they did WKU. Why I have absolutely no clue. But you have to figure NMSU has a leg up there regardless.

I'll believe that when I see it. UTEP wants nothing to do with NMSU as a conference mate, I've never known anything but that.

I agree that right now Louisiana-Lafayette and ASU make the most sense for division sake. But USA made more sense than other schools that have already been added (I won't call out names). If it's true that NMSU is "next in line" like has been mentioned, I wonder if that is why we didn't invite them for full membership?

I don't see Texas State making a move to CUSA unless a Texas team leaves. As someone else noted, it would put a large number of Texas teams in the conference, and if those teams banded together, they could pretty much dictate the entire conference. That's no good for the others.

I figure we get into CUSA if Rice leaves. That's about it. Or if UTEP leaves for MWC (but they'd either take us with them or they'd grab another CUSA Texas team).

I keep saying this, and I keep thinking it makes sense.

Look at the map in my Sig. See the gaping hole in CUSA footprint? I could EASILY see stAte or Cajuns and GSU. My guess would be stAte and GSU because then CUSA picks up 2 whole new states for TV purposes. That puts CUSA firmly in the South East part of the US, and start to look like SEC lite.

Its not like CUSA wont pull in programs with alsmost no history. Hell they pulled in UNC-C and they havent even played a down yet.

If SBC was smart they'd offer NMSU all sports ASAP. Because thats what they want and will run to CUSA if offered that. Maybe if you add them as full member now they won't jump. Just a thought.

Got to use that voting block to our advantage to get in.

In my opinion, Arkansas State and South Alabama would be the best adds.

I think thats it in a nutshell. Neither UAB or USM really want to go west. Both recruit GA, Florida and Alabama more than they recruit Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. I would think both UAB and USM would want to stay in the east.

And the only way that would be possible right now is sendin WKU and MTSU to the west. And that would make no sense what-so-ever from a geography stand point. That would take 2 of the closest teams to Huntington WV and only play every 3-4 years.

Things would break down like this if both ULL and ASU were added

EAST
FIU/FAU
Charlotte
MTSU
WKU
USM
UAB
Marshall
ODU

WEST
FIU/FAU
UTSA
Rice
ULL
ASU
LA Tech
UTEP
UNT

I think the F_Us get split up but have a perm cross divisional rival. Thats the only way I could see it split where both USM and UAB could stay in the east.

The only thing I would be worried about in 4-5 years is an airport meeting and the samething happen with the WAC. The precieved 9-12 schools break away and form their own conference leaving 4-7 schools behind. There is the old saying "History Is Doomed To Repeat It's Self".

Does that mean CUSA steals the GoDaddy Bowl?

Can I see what it would look like with my avatar between Texas and Tennessee on that map? You know, just in case[Image: c0534.gif]

Hell, I thought USA was a better fit than WKU academically.

The GoDaddy.com Bowl will most likely partner with whatever conference in which South Alabama is a member.

Just like TCU stayed true to their Big East commitment? If NMSU has any belief whatsoever that a CUSA invite could be coming, they'll drag their feet into the Sun Belt.

Ok,

This will blow your mind but I think CUSA is going full bore to be SEC lite. IF GSU and stAte get added, you are only missing South Carolina and Missourri. Other then that the two confreces are in the EXACT same footprint.

SEC On the Left
CUSA On the Right

Bama - UAB
Auburn-

Ark- None (possible stAte)

Florida- FAU,FIU

Georgia- None (Possible GSU)

Kentucky-WKU

LSU-LATech

OleMiss-USM
Miss State

Mizzou-None

SC-None

Tenn- MTSU
Vandy

TxAM- UNT, UTSA,Rice,Utep

After the SEC adds Va Tech and NC State we will be even closer to sharing the exact same footprint...

What makes you think JMU will get a CUSA invite, just trying to see if you are being serious or facetious.
