What? That's terrible. Hope nothing foul. That is not a weather room I'd want to be in. Who was the guy for them that passed a few years ago?

Brian Teigland.

When WPTY started news, they had a guy named Don Carson as main weatherman and Brian Teigland on weekends. Teigland had been at WREG as their main weatherman in the 80s and early 90s before leaving to go to Michigan and being replaced by Tim Simpson.

Eventually, Teigland and Carson swapped spots, I'm assuming guessing (who knew... a-ssuming is a curse-word!) because Teigland was the 3rd best known weatherman in town after Dave Brown and Jim Jaggers.

When Carson left the station, I think Mark Walden replaced him.

So it's really sad and I feel for everyone there, especially those who worked with both Teigland and Walden. Mark Walden had to be in his late 30s/early 40s (38).

ABC 24 Mourns Death of Chief Meteorologist Mark Walden

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - It is with great sadness that we report the sudden loss of an ABC 24 family member, Chief Meteorologist Mark Walden.

According to officials, Mark died in his home over the weekend from apparent natural causes. He was 38 years old.

Mark joined ABC 24 in 1999. He was highly respected among his colleagues as a gifted meteorologist with a passion for weather, and keeping our community safe and informed. Mark also proudly served with numerous charitable organizations.

"Our ABC 24 family is deeply saddened by the passing of chief meteorologist Mark Walden. He was highly respected among his colleagues and served this community as a gifted meteorologist and through his generous work with local charities. He touched our lives and will be greatly missed," stated Ardyth Dierks, ABC 24 Vice President and General Manager.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, stepdaughter and son.

"Our family thanks everyone in the Mid-South for their condolences and kind words," stated Mark's wife, Jackquelynne Walden. "Mark really loved his viewers. He never met a stranger. And we’re grateful for all the prayers and support."

Memorial services are still pending. All of us at ABC 24 are heartbroken by Mark's passing, and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.

ABC 24 will pay tribute to Mark Walden, beginning in our 5 p.m. Sunday newscast.

My family always used to joke that he reminded us of Rob Schneider.

We were shocked to find out about this. Devastating. Far too young.

Teigland had the best forecast ever during one of our hot spells.
He looked in to the camera and said something like "This morning we can expect.....(dramatic pause) hot.
This afternoon will be..........hot. As evening appraoches we can expect..........hot. Tomorrow looks........hot.

Can they stop using the term natural causes for anyone under the age of 80? Nothing natural about dying at 38.

If you have a physical defect, and it causes your death, isn't that natural causes?

RE: RIP WPTY weatherman Mark Walden
My guess is heart attack.

If you die of a heart attack, you've died of natural causes. If you die of the flu, you've died of natural causes. I don't recall the exact percentage, but over 50% of deaths are of "natural causes."
