Certainly not baseball at the rate our program is going.

Let's not do this... we lose our 2 best players off a team that won the CIT. Gotta remember, we weren't the only C-USA team in the postseason...

Favorites? I'd say no way. Possible darkhorse? Sure.

USM is still in the conference. And there are a lot of good ball teams.

Do we get another look now? Sure. But a favorite? Not yet.

CUSA needs every team to be better. I hope the Pirates are strong again next year. Tulane losing a couple of guys is gonna hurt.

Not even a little bit. Even in RPI ratings that include our postseason run we are still 4th or 5th I think of the teams that will be in the conference next year. We will have to continue improving despite the loss of Paul and Kemp (and Gaines who was out for the end of the season anyway) to even finish has high in the C-USA standings as we did this year.

With 16 for mbb next season I'm wondering if the schedule makers will screw up and not send ECU to El Paso. I want the Pirates at the Don not at your place. We both may have already used our allottment of last second shots to win on the road.

I think USM is the favorite, but we certainly return a contender.

This is the current returning Top 100 RPI teams of next years CUSA

Top Returning RPI's
#27 USM
#34 MTSU
#52 La Tech
#67 ECU
#81 UNCC
#97 UTEP

http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2013/rpi

We got

C Armstrong: SR.....11pp 6rpg 56% in CUSA play
F Sampson: SR......9ppg 9rpg 2bpg
F Straughn: SR.......returning 2 year starter/med redshirt
G Richmond: SR......16ppg in 28mpg the last 13 games after Gaines injury
G Robinson: JR.......#12 rated JUCO nationally per 247

6th PRC: JR...........Returning starter

Basically return 4 seniors/4 returning starters. We return to much experience to fall off the map and have good recruits coming in. We aren't the favorite, we are a contender though.

Don't worry, SJ will pull numbers out of his butt that will clearly show that ECU will win the national championship.

With Paul and Kemp graduating, I don't think ECU could be considered favorites, but I do think CUSA will be pretty open next year. There should be 4-6 teams competing for the conference title.

What like current RPI, the primary tool the NCAA uses to compare and judge teams? I didn't say we were the favorite but there is no way you can write our team off with the kind of season we wrapped up and especially as strong as we finished it off, and the experience we return from it with seniors like Richmond, Armstrong, Straughn, and Sampson.

Damian Lillard was in the house last night at Weber State. He's the NBA rookie of the year, and was on Weber's team last year. They won 30 games this year, and did better this year than last year without the current NBA rookie of the year so it can be done.

Sometimes experienced teams just have better chemistry. Richmond has already proven he can be a 15+ppg scorer and pick up much of the scoring slack and Armstrong is averaging about double digits in 20 minutes as well this year. Both are capable of picking up the offense. If Richmond had played more earlier who knows where we would have been.

Every top team loses some key players too. We got a good core of players we return finished playing awesome, and getting Straughn back and adding the #12 best JUCO in the nation are solid additions. Teams with 4 Sr's/ 4 returning starters don't drop off the map.

Having just watched your team win a trophy for something in basketball, you surely know that they don't hand those out for RPI rankings.

I meant to imply that I thought ECU would be in the group of 4-6 that could compete for the conference title next year.

Charlotte needs a three point shooter and another big man after losing Braswell and Mayfield. We are likely getting Ben Cherry from Tulane as a one year graduate transfer and I'm hoping we can also get Josh Davis from Tulane (although it is unknown whether we have interest or if he has interest in us at this point). Cherry wasn't a prolific scorer at Tulane, but he did shoot 50% from 3 this season and we desperately need someone that can knock down threes.

If we can grab another big man that can play, I feel really good about our chances.
