This thread will probably end up on the smack board, but it's awfully confusing to see people reference being a "GSU" fan and you don't know which school they are talking about. So you scroll up and look at the "Who I root for" underneath their name for clarification and a lot of times it still only says "GSU". Can we please find a way to make sure everyone knows who you a fan of? And when you reference "GSU" in posts can you make it clear which school you are talking about? Maybe spell out the school name?

Easy solution: we go by what our school says we should go by. This is why stAte and App. St. don't have this problem - neither of their fans are clinging to something just to be areshats about it.

Skully, you won't be able to solve this.

I also don't want to start a flame war about an acronym that is used by multiple fan bases. You go to gameday at both schools, you will hear that very acronym.

Southern fans are not balking at State fans using GSU, it's really a none issue.

ESPN3 will more than likely solve it. When ESPN televises a game, the acronym used there will forever be what the school is known by.

For my purposes, GaSo and GaSt are what I use.

I don't really care. Ga Southern is recognizable outside the state but Georgia media in Augusta, Macon, Columbus, and in South Georgia use GSU to refer to Ga Southern. I'm not sure too many people in the state outside Atlanta even know there is a Georgia State and almost certainly have no idea they play college football - why would they?

I liked GSU for my Eagles until Georgia State lost to Lambuth and then went 1-10. After that I decided they could keep it because I didn't want anybody to confuse us with that.
