Is Wichita playing itself into a bigger $ conference
With Creighton already announcing they are joining the "Catholic 7" and Wichita not sponsoring football; will the success they are having force the hand of the A12 to invite them in. Adding VCU & Wichita would improve hoops in the A12 considerably and help make up for the loss of the Catholic 7 schools

I hope CTBD adds both WSU and VCU at this point. It would be an extremely smart move. WSU is a perfect travel partner (and old rival) for Tulsa. VCU likewise with ECU.

If they win the whole thing, look out for a possible invite from the Big East and they can rejoin their old rival Creighton. Maybe the Big East goes to 14 and adds Saint Louis, Dayton, VCU and Wichita St. That certainly would shut up any detractors. Definitely a top 3 league right there.

How about go to 16?

Big east

e: Umass, providence, st johns, seton hall, nova, temple, gtown, vcu

w: Depaul, Marquette, St louis, Butler, WSU, Creighton, Dayton, Xaiver

Awesome hoops league that hits the all the markets. Breakdown would be 11 catholic school's, 4 public and 1 private. 2 football school's but could find football only homes in the mac.

Yep it would be a home run for the Metro whatever to add those 2. Both of their leagues have been gutted enough by the Big East that they might seriously consider it. The Metro needs to be a power conference in something, and it's clear for the foreseeable future that's not going to be football so make it basketball.

I thought you were saying that the C-7 was dead set against big state schools? At least, that was the rationale behind choosing Dayton/SLU over VCU.

VCU is a little bigger than Wichita, but isn't that normally viewed as a good thing? Bigger potential fanbase, and it's actually in the East so it would make an easy divisional split.

No thanks to the A10, and to be honest the new Big East. Our second most important sport, which also happens to be a revenue generator, is baseball. We have been to the college World Series 7 times, played in the national championship game 4 times and won it all in 89. We are a perfect fit for the the metro as it has a strong southern baseball influence. Volleyball went to the sweet sixteen last year and has been averaging in the top ten attendance wise over the last few years. We are not a one trick pony.

We culturally and athletically fit into the metro west perfect. Oh, and don't discount football coming back either. There are powerful alumni who want to see it happen.

I'd love to have you guys in the new conference - Tulsa has a lot of respect for WSU and would be welcome to seeing you guys every year in conference!

It would be beyond disappointing if VCU and WSU wanted to join and the C-TBD passed on the opportunity. This can really solidify the basketball side as a major player.
