NCAA tournament games today.
They are going to have to something about the lack of offense in college basketball today.

The Syracuse-Marquette game is 25-21 with 16 minutes left in the game, not half, the freaking game.

How would you feel about a shorter shot clock? That can be changed by an individual conference, can't it?

Put the shot clock down to about 30. Maybe give the players 8 seconds instead of 10 to cross half court. There isn't much you can do when a team is shooting like Marquette is today though.

I think a shorter shot clock would lead to more turnovers, hurried shots and less scoring.

A shorter shot clock would likely create extra possessions though. I know a lot of people are against this, but 30 seconds would be plenty of time to get down there and set your offense up.

I have no problems with the shot clock at 35. I do think the 3 pt line should go back a little though.

Also, charges are way out of control. There has to be some way to reduce the number of charge attempts.

I would change timeouts to every 5 minutes instead of every 4 & reduce the time at halftime by 5 minutes.

Also, if you get the ball in bounds, you cannot call timeout prior to reaching half court & if the ball is knocked out of bounds prior to 10 seconds you still have to get it across half court prior to the shot clock being at 25.

Maybe scoring will increase when Jim Boeheim retires

More athletes that have no fundamentals and less skilled players is leading to a dilution of the game.

RE: NCAA tournament games today.
It could be that scoring droughts are a result of more coaches emphasizing defensive play that makes scoring more time consuming (requiring more intricate plays that take more time) and problematic than it used to be. It just may be a phase the game is going through until offense catches up to defense. Another possibility is that the TV people tend to reward 3 point shots and "jams" more than good jumper shots or lay-ups on replays so the players shoot them more - and miss more - so scores may be affected. When have you seen an NBA lay-up or jump shot contest on TV?
