Coastal Carolina has scheduled an interview with Tyler Summitt. Alan LeForce is retiring. Hmmmm

Coastal also hired a football coach not because he was qualified but because he has a pantload of 100 dollar bills.
It's good for him to interview, but I'd be willing to bet that at this point it's a token interview to get him used to the process.

Winning press conferences and losing games! I love when programs do that!

I still think ETSU is WAY above Costal Carolina.

If these programs are really interested in Summit, they're stupid. The last name is the ONLY reason. If he had a different last name, no Big East coach would have even glanced at the résumé of a 21 year old kid with no experience. It's an insult to all of the coaches who have built an actual career to put them in position to be a head coach for him to even be in the mix.

As far as Coastal Carolina goes, those who question what ETSU has spent their money on, what is Coastal getting for $19 million a year? A really good baseball team?

Let's Go- I was amazed that on a board that for the most part views Murry Bartow as Joey Meyer Lite (and that's how he was made out to be at UAB), there was a poster who argued for Tyler Summitt to take over the Lady Bucs.

Just amazed. Not shocked; nothing stupid that someone says or does here shocks me.

Completely agree. At least Murry is the son of a legend who put in the time to become a head coach. Tyler Summit would be gifted a job completely. That's the kind of hire DIII's and NAIA schools make, and even then it's generally an alum hire and a part time job. He is as green as they come. Thinking he is ready to lead a program is ludicrous.

Well, if Noland thinks Bartow is a great coach, and he does, then this doesn't surprise me.

Sleep with Phil Fulmer and these will be the recomendations you will get.

Yep.. looks like Tyler will be the new head coach at UTC.. guess they are counting on his name to carry the program....

If this were 2015-16 and he had a few years as an assistant and was maybe sitting in the 1st chair next to the assistant this would be a slam dunk hire for UT-C and definitely a no brainer. It's good for him to get his name out there, go through these interview processes to see what questions that athletic directors are asking of potential head coaching candidates so he can learn what to work on to get more prepared for when that opportunity arises.

He interviewed on Saturday according to the KNoxville News Sentinel Go Vols Xtra... that is all I have except some folks at UTK said today that he is the favorite with a lot of UTC fans.. but.. since Saturday others have voiced the same problems with him that you just outlined above...

There is not a single person on Mocfans who has been in favor of Tyler Summitt (too young, too inexperienced).

And I know for a fact they haven't even gotten far enough along in the cursory interviews to even announce finalists, much less have frontrunner.

I am sure Blackburn and Tyler have spoken, but he is in no way the favorite for the job. All GoVolsXtra did was read the Times Free Press...which, btw, said that we would have a men's coach today (Blackburn said it would be 7-10 more days for the men's coach, and the women's soon after).

Bad info all-around in the TFP article (from a source that is no longer even in the department).

With the high degree of success the Lady Mocs have had, Blackburn has to be very careful in his choice...which makes me think he will not roll the dice on an unproven 22 year old (heck we have a player on the roster that is older than him) :)

BTW...Blackburn managed to upgrade on Tyler Summitt.

UTC named former Vandy/Ohio St coach Jim Foster as head coach today.

I never would have thought that we would replace a guy who had 558 career wins with a guy who has 783.

Needless to say, Lady Mocs fans are pretty excited about the hire. Now Blackburn just needs to find us a men's coach (then he can get down to Arena renovations, raising money for the new football coaching offices and a track/soccer complex)

Congratulations on the hire. We're real excited about hiring away the coach from a midpack OVC team.
There's tremendous upside.
