"[Lars] Willemse, a versatile defender from Wageningen, Netherlands, attended VWO for his high school education, and has played for the Vitesse FC youth team for the past seven years. The club is one of the top youth academies in Holland."

The Dutch youth programs are fantastic. Parent club Vitesse FC, from the city of Arnhem, has been one of the best in the Dutch Ere Divisie (their premier league) over the past decade, vying with Amsterdam Ajax and PSV Eindhoven for top honors.

Wasn't the UAB soccer team recently in Europe? Was Coach Getman recruiting on that trip?

Looks like a great class of recruits. It's nice to also have a local player make the team. There is some good high school soccer in the Birmingham Metro.

I wish UAB could significantly upgrade their soccer facilities, or even build something new which was state of the art.

Compared to Alabama, yes. Compared to the rest of the country, not so much. This looks like a fantastic recruiting class though.

This is one impressive signing class... this would be like if Mike Davis actually signed everyone he said was going to sign, except they actually signed and made better grades in high school.

Men's Soccer Signs Six Newcomers For 2013 Class
"I think they will make us a better team right away. We have had several top-20 recruiting classes in a row and I think this class fits right up there. We have been in the hunt for conference and national honors the past two years, and this recruiting class will help us achieve our goals."

It sounds like Getman is feeling a championship coming on. This team maybe for real.
