Couldn't ask for better timing in my opinion with the run ECU is on in the CIT tourney(I think it's CIT~could be wrong).

Its is the CIT, and we are in the F4 for it. Play Evansville Purple Aces in Minges Saturday @ 5pm.

the only question I have for ECU is what is Lebo's contract situation? would be not good to see them get into the conference and then have him leave.

Well, I don't want to be like the folks that said Skip would never leave...so, with that said, let me just post some reason why he might stay for awhile.

1. It's no secret he wants the North Carolina job. That job probably isn't opening up until Roy retires in ~10 years. Lebo is already building his reputation amoung UNC fans since he gets regular pub in the local papers. Free propaganda if you will. Much harder to do away from the state. If you become extremely successful at ECU, he is almost a shoe-in for the job. Leave to go to another, higher up school and he risks the chance of imploding (ala Skip) on his way to the UNC interview. UNC isn't afraid to take him from ECU...meaning their coach doesn't need to come from a Kansas, UCONN, etc. He must become successful anywhere he goes to be able to land the UNC job. No need to start over somewhere else as UNC would be willing to take him right where he is at.

2. Lebo's wife's family leaves very close to ECU and has strong ties to ECU. A move from here to UNC doesn't change much. A move somewhere else does.

To answer your next, unasked question...yes, we all expect him to go after the UNC job. If he does, it means he was very successful at ECU and we should have a much better chance to hire a "name" coach than we did when we hired Lebo. After ~10 years of success we should be able to hire a very good coach to replace him. We see Lebo as someone who is building our program to where it can be handed off when he leaves for UNC. Nothing but good news for ECU. We aren't foolish enough to believe he is here for good. But maybe the next coach might be.

Good news and welcome aboard. C-TBA is a better, stronger league as a result of ECU's entry.

Finally ECU gets the respect they deserve from the NYN Conference. ECU is & has been a great program for many years.

There seems to be an endless number of former UNC basketball players who coach to draw from. I don't know why it took ECU so long to figure this out. ; )

Lebo signed a pretty big extension and raise after his first season and it would not surprise me if we offered him a raise after this season. I think he's done a tremendous job, but at the same time I don't know how many big time jobs would be interested in a guy who's never taken a team to an NCAA tournament, been fired from a job, and does not have a spectacular overall record in 3 years at ECU. I don't see him at this point taking the first power conference job offer he gets, especially considering ECU is moving into essentially a power basketball conference in 2014. I think for him to leave he's going to have to get an offer at a place that you can win big at.
