RE: SBC losing two more?
Good news on the Logo.
Put the SBC letters on it and you're done rebranding. Ask the newtowrks to use SBC and change the letterhead and gear.
Minimal cost with no need to re-write the wheel.

Yea, but NOT awesome for APP, G So, GSU, and JMU . . . .

IDK what the Texas St blogger knows, other then he likes predicting alot of things, but one thing I do know is the ACC isnt going anywhere.
Louisville, Syracuse and Pitt coming in means meet your new super basketball conference plus 3 new good football teams to help in that area. ACC is hear to stay.
The rumors of WKU are probably true which sucks but I dont see where they are going right now. I think they will be lucky to get an invite in time for 2014.
I just got done hearing Benson speak on Southern's campus and I think more or less we may be all surprised who gets an invite or not. One of his selling points was Southern fits in the "geographical footprint" of the Sun Belt. He said it twice. IDk if the rumors are true or not about Idaho,(this is bold and probably wrong) but I think JMU gets an invite instead of them. NMST makes a little since but Idaho does not.
Side not Benson said the Sun Belt logo is changing. Nothing about the name only the logo.
Benson said GaSo fit in the Eastern footprint of the conference. He said nothing about the Western half. The West is a mess right now and I can assure you they are not happy.
The West are the ones who pushed for NMSU and Idaho. If they're not happy, I'm not sure who they can blame except themselves.

The West had a few demands: add teams in the west, no SLC teams. The options are limited and I doubt Troy was pushing hard for Idaho.

As of now the #SunBelt is preparing to lose two more schools. #JMU will get one of the conference invites.
I hope you are right and JMU does get an invite. Talk about some APP hate. We almost need a purple school to hate on in the conference.
JMU and APP do not like each other once the players suit up. Almost as bad as APP and Southern.
You hope the Sun Belt loses more schools just to bring in James Madison?
That's what it sounded like to me too. Sometimes it sounds like App fans just want to have what they already had back in FCS. I do not want JMU.

Well someone had to vote, push for them to enter and I bet it wasn't Ga St, South Ala, or Troy I don't see any reason for them agreeing to such travel cost and adding 2 of the worst FBS FOOTBALL teams in the nation. It just doesn't make sense. Makes you think there is something big happening or Idaho is playing dirty politics leaking things hoping to get a invite. They can ask permission all they want, they need a invite.

I don't want the SBC to lose WKU but it looks like a foregone conclusion at this point. When they go, I think JMU is the best option to keep 6 in the East.
Great facilities, strong academics, solid program and great fan support. The more football programs who fill their stadiums every Saturday the better, IMO.

We, App State, have very little say or none in what the Sun Belt is doing right now. Would be fairly convenient travel wise for us though and we have played some good games with them.
Received information that just yesterday JMU's administration made a favorable statement about moving to FBS evidently. That is ground breaking for them since they have been so silent on the subject.

More like, west says we want NMSU, east says no thanks we want App and GaSo and will hold this thing up for them but we will compromise and add NMSU football only. Well if we do that it is 11 and we need to go ahead and get 12. Idaho gets plugged in by default not desire.
As for travel, the west teams were getting hosed on travel no matter what happened. ASU and UL are now guaranteed at least one 1,000 mile trip every year. Texas State is guaranteed at least one and if the schedule falls wrong, they can get more.

Agreed, if WKU is more or less out of the door then JMU seems to be the next best available option and with the turmoil going on in the CAA we may have a better shot at scooping them up than you would think.

Yep. I think the departure of GMU and rumors about Delaware have "expanded our horizons"...(although my guess is we knew about GMU for a while and our horizons have silently been expanded for some time).
What is everyone's main beef with JMU? Just that we're FCS? I get that, but I'm not sure if there are other reasons for not wanting us in the conference. Legitimate question, not looking to argue.

This would give us each program's best sport, but wouldn't that give us 7 basketball in the West and only 5 in the East? I guess they could move UALR to the East for basketball.

That would make perfect sense also. All I'm saying is that while NMST makes sense Idaho is far fetched and unfortunately will bring down the competition in football whereas GSU and App ST brings it up. I bet the west did make a deal with the east, I just believe they could have found better candidates then a team from Moscow, Idaho. There is 2-3 schools that would be a great fit in the Sun Belt and where it might make the East/West line a little harder to define, there is better options closer to the geographical footprint. But according to Benson we will find out soon enough.

Would hope any school joining the Sun Belt would be for all sports.
Can understand, of course, if they don't play football or in a situation like Idaho where anything except football would be totally ridiculous.
