Wow, first Toler (when I went to games he was about the only guy scoring points) and now Nader.

Thanks Zao...that'll help with this discussion.

Talented? Sure. But one of the worst "it's all about me" attitudes I've ever seen in a Huskie uniform.

Did cagy seriously ask what's up with the "debbie downer attitude"?

Don't know that it would of mattered, but Springs would've liked the playing time wasted on Nader, but instead he left.

RE: new bball recruits
yeah, I did.....obviously, we all know the history of the last 7 years of NIU basketball........that doesn't mean everyone wants to hear every snarky, sarcastic slam aimed at this group of players and coaches....if we get a good commitment, that should be time for a small bit of optimism--not another time for whining and complaining about the past. As of today, NIU is undefeated for the 2013-14 season....let us wait and see how it develops before turning against the huskies yet again. Or, simply ignore basketball posts. I find it hard to believe I am the only one tired of hearing all the overt, hostile, negativity. We get it--NIU has lost a lot in recent years.....I like to believe the Huskies can recover--if you don't, fine, but don't just throw out cheap shots and recycle old gripes...

I didn't really find anything overt, hostile or inexplicably negative. The post that was "oh great...another guy that can't shoot", was based off the comments in the article. It said he's a mediocre shooter with a weird motion. What's wrong with honestly commenting on the signings?

My opinion? I don't see how these guys help us get to the next level. Hopefully I'm wrong...but I've been right for the past 5+ years.

I haven't seen much of the NIU roundball team for a while. I'm just hoping that MM is on the verge of a Novakesque rise from the ashes.....Wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin'

RE: new bball recruits
We're not going to bring anybody in to make us .500 this coming year, I don't think. If we can at least see some improvement, maybe 8-9 wins over Division I teams, I can at least understand it. I didn't notice any improvement this year.

Schedule 2 DII teams early to get some confidence going.

On top of that I guess it hurts your RPI less than scheduling a bad DI team.

RE: new bball recruits
Huskie john, since you asked, I would guess Balls would be leaving not Cravetta. JJ will become a 3pt threat. Highsmith and Baker at point guard. If, the new 6'4 guy can score 12pts and we can get 11-12pts from Highsmith, they will be in the 10-13 win column. Dinnuno and jake both scored about 12 their freshman year, so I believe Highsmith can also. NIU had 10 games which they lost by 10 or less. They need to win 5 of those games next year.

RE: new bball recruits
Until it is confirmed by NIU, I hope Nader is still on the team. The pick-up of these guys will be an instant upgrade for the team. Looks like a VERY good pick-up IMO compared to recruits like the Gray twins. That isn't a knock at the Gray's, but they shouldn't be starting in the MAC. Serviceable off the bench type players.

10 wins is a reasonable goal.

I believe they must not lose 20 games again, next year. If, they do then yes, Monty should be on the hot seat going into year 4.

Yeah. Real ambitious here at NIU. Maybe we'll get 10 next year and 12 the year after that...and MAYBE 14 the next year. Of course then we can offer Monty a 5 year extension. And win 20 games in 2019.
