It would be the quietest move in the history of realignment. I havent heard a single solitary thing out of ASU to suggest anything is remotely close to happening.

We don't have a better tv contract than these guys and ESPN was unwilling to make us more attractive. When we might have kept MTSU. That ship has sailed.

CUSA commish has talked about wanting a 16 team conf and that would do it 2 eight team divisions and would cut travel and be a damn good conf. Hope it happens 04-cheers

CUSA tv contract should suck. It will still be better than SBC. Which in real terms doesn't mean much.

If, then SBC says "move west young man" or at least to the Houston area.

WKU = MTSU
USA = ODU (can argue either way, but ODU wins in football)

ULM / LA Tech
AR St / UNT
TX St = UTSA

I'd say right now it's about even. No conference has a distinct advantage in football.

Don't kill me guys if I offended anyone, this is just my outsider's opinion. I must say though, I like TxSt more than UTSA (history), respect the hell out of Troy, and love that ULM is known as a giant killer. USA has tremendous potential, already established in Olympic sports, and I hope WKU can stay in the Belt.

Most of the lineup has character and identity (Ragin' Cajuns, come on, how awesome of a name is that!), and those who don't (looking at you GaSt) have the ability to create a name for yourselves.

Coming from Elon, Samford, and Western Carolina, man I'm excited as hell to be in this conference!

I really liked the lineup we had yesterday morning. The lineup yesterday afternoon took a real header into the toilet.

None of that matters to tv.

RE: Tulsa Gone
CUSA will add 1 more at the min..

The more interesting picks will be if they add 3, but it is still not a slam dunk who those 3 would be. As much as people want to automatically assume Ark St and ULL along with WKU, I would not be totally shocked to TSU get some love from the Texas schools over ULL or Ark St or potentially WKU if all 3 go at once. It really will depend on how the Texas schools value an additional team in state vs. the potential of adding Ark St or ULL or WKU. It UTSA does not want to have TSU in the conference, they are probably not getting in. If they do (and UNT is not opposed), I would not be surprised to see them become a strong contender. Rice and UTEP at this point have no real fear from either add due to thier brand and location, but UNT and UTSA could be either a champion or a roadblock for TSU.

Lets not forget that there is now a voting block of 4 Texas schools that in essence can block any add . That is the real problem in all of this at this point and I would not be surprised to see more back room politics going on now than ever before.

As I've said along when WKU's name gets mentioned, nothing is firm until an official announcement is made. There are several schools pulling out all the stops to get invites to other conferences. Scenarios you describe above are very real. WKU has little to no value to these market-oriented conferences. MT, NT, FAU, FIU, Charlotte, ODU, etc. were added for markets. LaTech was added for history, rivalry, geography, but that was a unique situation. WKU is a SBC FCS moveup in a small market. stAte, UL, GaSt, TxSt all have greater advantages over WKU. i guess we'll see in the coming months.

UTSA would be dumb to block TXST. Yeah it's in their recruiting and fan base area but its was always the top draw for conference games. The two schools can really benefit from each other. I don't seem them stealing from each other as much as building each other up.

WKU choose a good time to start winning in football and have a strong basketball team. UL and stAte have really stepped up in coaches salaries and stadiums. Txst has improved both as well.

Honestly UL is far and away the most attractive if I take my rose colored glasses off.

UNT does not want TXST. Too many Texas teams is the consideration for others.

Yeah, UNT doesn't want to get beat up every year by their Texas State brothers :(

UNT needs to get over it. They can benefit from Texas schools because they will travel and boost their attendance. I get they got dumped on as a bottom feeder for years but its a lame excuse. I know Texas St isn't going anywhere unless 3-4 more teams leave CUSA. Though I bet App St passes us by pretty quick.
