Texas Tech, not A&M.
Isn't Texas Tech in Austin, and they have the Twelfth Man? Shows how much I care about big schools, I can't even get them straight.
/joke. relax all.......
You're thinking of Texas Gulf Coast, the ones with the Dunk-a-thon.

It's good to know there are people who aren't just chasing a paycheck. And I bet he saw what happened with Ben Howland - he took UCLA to 3 straight Final Fours a few years ago, and now he gets canned. Shaka can retire at VCU and still make a ton of money, as long he doesn't do something stupid.
Ya I am sure Mario Cristobal really thinks he made the right choice after the 2011 season to stay at FIU.

There is a difference between a so-so coach deciding to stay at a school (like Cristobal), and a great coach like Stevens @ Butler (b2b National Championship appearances) and Shaka @ VCU (Final 4); those 2 can retire at their schools if they want to (barring any scandals or something like that).

You can make an arguement that the Big Ten is the toughest conference in basketball this year, but probably not for the entire span of time that Tubby has been at Minnesota. I think the Big Ten has won one national championship in 23 years (did not look that up, heard it recently), seems like if they were the best conference they would win a bunch of national championships like the SEC does in football. The Big Ten was pretty deep this year, but in watching the tournament is appears that a couple of Big East teams are the best, and I think they had as many or more teams in the tourney.

RE: Tubby Smith
The Goofer basketball coach search is mirroring the football coach search. Some mid-major better be ready to lose their coach.

Don't like being a B1G apologist, but the conference has sent many teams to the finals since 2000, and plenty of final four representation. Even if it's not "the best", it's a challenging conference. Being competitive there is a compliment.
But what's up w/ Minnesota? They're talking about getting rid of the Vikes coach too.
