I hate to be THAT guy, but Ohio has 8 FBS teams: Cincinnati, Ohio State, Ohio, Bowling Green, Miami Ohio, Toledo, Kent State, Akron. Still definitely impressive for you guys though.

Hum, I guess my eyes failed me when I was looking at the FBS map. And I don't think I would call that impressive. We don't produce FB talent on the same level as those other four.

I believe this past recruiting class we both had offers on 3 of the same guys. I've seen more against ECU and ODU.

ECU fans: what do you think is a realistic time frame for App and ECU to schedule a fairly regular OOC series now that we are FBS? 5 years?

We've got some stadium expansion and other facilities upgrades in the works but I hope we can get a series sooner than later.

10-15 years for anything close to regular.

Ive been to Memphis too. Its a nasty city outside of Beale Street and a few tourist traps.

Memphis will forever suck at everything but basketball. And you get the advatage of playing in an NBA arena. Plus you had to cheat to get your basktball back on track. Remind me how many wins show in your record books in 2008.

i lived in huntington for 5 years. I absolutely know for a fact that it has spots as nasty, if not nastier than Memphis. As far as cheating, I promise you do not want to go there. If you dont believe me ask some of your own big boosters, provided you actually know any.

I have been to football games at Troy and at Marshall. Not a freaking nickels worth of difference. Believe what you want.

Troy will never get in because they don't fit the academic profile. I know that CUSA presidents have met and come to the conclusion that Troy is like a JuCo and they want nothing to do with them.

Also, to the FIU fan posting pictures. In fall fairness, y'all are playing South Florida that game. That'll excite a lot of people. Show me a picture of y'all playing ULM.

Why so long?

They already pretty much hang with you guys. Afterall, the overall series is 19-12 in favor of App State. Granted, ECU has had the upper hand lately winning 9 of the last 11. Give App State a full allotment of scholarships and it shoudn't take them 10-15 years to be highly competitive.

So you were in this meeting where the C-USA presidents collectively decided Troy was a glorified Junior College? And that was the term used...JuCo? Harsh, that one hurts. 03-lmfao

Troy along with ULM will still be in the Sun Belt when Abilene Christian decides its time to go IA. Those are just facts.

Hah, no. We don't have a market of suitable size, aaaand, I don't want us to leave the Belt for anything less than a Power 5 (never happening) invite. 03-thumbsup

I wouldn't mind adding Southern Miss to the SBC roster though. Perfect geographic fit, and probably adds another bowl tie to the Conference cupboard. What do ya say USM?

I'd just as soon go FCS and join the Southland.

I'm beyond caring about conferences at this point, unless we get into the Big XII (very unlikely), they're all equally crappy to me. I just want to USM to crush whoever we play and keep racking wins.

You are not wrong, but I am not sure it is as significant as perhaps you think. Recruits will pick their school for any of many reasons. Some will see aspects that the conferences have--Charlotte is a big city with lots to do--Pro Sports, clubs, diverse population. Others may prefer the laid back Boone (I know I like it).

Charlotte produces a lot of talented HS players and they grew up deciding which mall to go to, not wishing there was a mall. Each of our schools has quality of life pluses that are going to be considered by recruits in addition to the football factors, and for those that want what Charlotte has to offer Boone will not be able to compete well. And vice-versa.

My guess is App will struggle somewhat with a new coach, a new conference with teams fans do not care about yet, no Championship to play for, and not likely being ranked. Charlotte is starting off with a clean sheet of paper and everything is exciting to us right now. I bet that in spite of App's history we will be pretty close to even in recruiting starting next year.

Really don't care. We will do what we continue to do... Wouldn't mind playing Marshall on the grid iron again soon. What say you?

Our current OOC schedule is filled with regional teams basically we only play against WVU, VA, MD NC and SC teams. I do not think we need to play another OOC game in NC with our current series going with UNC and NCSU. If we choose to schedule a OOC game in the region I would hope it would be against ODU just for more exposure in the Tidewater area for recruiting. We basically did not get much mileage from our CUSA conference schedule as far as regional interest or national interest that was left up to our OOC games. I doubt Appy/ECU game would gain any national exposure. I think you will see ECU slowly move away from so much regional focus in the OOC schedule and continue to schedule home/home series with schools like BYU.

I was speaking more of no metro area and low budget.
