So we look at the Akron loss and feel that the MAC and NIU basketball are so far away but look at a school like Florida Gulf Coast University, who competes in the Alantic Sun Conference, that beat the #2 Georgetown. The school was only established since 1991 and the basketball team has only been tournament eligible 2 years ago. Sure these Cinderellas happen every year and who know if they will win the next game

but I ask the question why can't NIU put together a team to at least compete in the Tournament in the near future. Let's stay optimistic.

There's no reason why it can't happen at NIU; it's just been an awful long time. Get the right coach on the rise (hopefully Monty is that guy, but I don't know) and any D1 program can do it.

Why?? Because

-coach is a genius (made millions on wall st)
-nba coaching experience
-good PG and good team chemistry
-the dorms are on a beach
-seniors stay all 4 years and develop

OT : coaches wife is a maxim model! People come to the games for her

And if u think they won cause of a fluke (wrong)

Coach had plays and ran the clock well while try we're winning they were playing like a 2 seed

Hey, these guys are exciting to watch.....I couldn't believe some of the highlight plays they pulled off against Georgetown.

Yea, really. Why is that? I guess there's just too much money at stake for football. The haves don't want any part of giving up something to a have-not. That's why 68 teams have a chance to win it all in BB (almost 20%) and only 2 in football (1.6%), soon to be 4.

Every AD and coach in the country is hearing "Why not us." from the alumni.

FGCU is "dunk city".....sure getting a lot of publicity.....coming to Dallas (actually Jerry World in Arlington).....can't wait to see how they match up with Florida
