Can't complain about result. May or may not have gotten lucky on penalty not called. Rest up we need to win and get some goals in Jamaica to help with goal differential. Defensive style may help win but need more goals to help move on.

BIG BIG point picked up tonight

US national coach Juergen Klinsmann did the right thing to get a tie, even if hate the defensive style. Their offensive talent is more than the US, so one point is a good showing.

RESPECT THE POINT - lucky on that last non-penalty call BUT something has to be done about the lasers being shot into players eyes. for a while it looked like a pink floyd concert out there.

There is no may... that was definitely a penalty that should've been called. It's inexplicable that it wasn't. I was astounded to see the flag go up on Chicharito's dive - I was never quite sure if he'd raised it for a penalty or for a dive. But, no call was probably the right thing there ... it was more a case of players about to run into each other and Bradley putting his hands up to protect himself.

RE: USA vs Mexico
the edu foul was clearly a penalty, I agree. Chicharito dove in the first half off of incidental contact and I can't believe the assistant called for a penalty off the ball with incidental contact when the player was also in an offside position. So, the ref made one good decision and one bad one.

Still, Mexico had their chances and couldn't finish. It's not like the US has never been the victim of questionable penalty decisions.

Yes. How many times (between both teams) did they get the ball down the wings only to sail the cross 20 yards too long?

Finishing was very poor for both sides, especially Mexico since they worked more chances.

WHAT AN EXCITING 0-0 GAME OF SOCCER! I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SLEEP!

(Just kidding. Mexico got hosed on that call, but I'll take the point)

Replays from the Univision feed show it was NOT a penalty. The Mexican player struck the ground with his foot, thus we he shanked the shot. It should have been s goal kick.

México vs. Estados Unidos: Otro penalti que le roban a México - Univision Futbol

Here's the problem with the video, at least the replay. Before he strikes the ground with his foot, Edu has made contact with that same leg. Then Edu follows through and cleans out his plant foot. Even just that latter part is enough for the penalty. You could argue that the first contact is trivial and partly due to Reyna's actions as opposed to Edu, but en toto, that's a challenge from behind by Edu that takes down Reyna.

That is not a good angle.

Here is an angle that shows his foot struck the ground and he had already followed through before Edu ever touched him.

It could either way, but it is not a clear-cut penalty as you and others are making it out to be.

He got his back leg after the chance. If he doesnt act like he was just shot in the face by Dirty Harry he probably gets the call. The histrionics probably keep him from getting the call.

Damn good tie, especially with the lack of experience on our side. Zusi (world class tackle) and Gonzalez (great poise) showed me a lot.

The gif I posted is from the ESPN feed. The one you posted is from Univision, which you referenced and I included in a link.

I contend that (1) I think Aquino's wind up made contact with Edu, which is still pretty trivial, but Aquino doesn't flub the shot if Edu wasn't there, and (2) Edu cleaning out his plant leg is a penalty whether or not Aquino flubs the chance or not, just so long as the ball is still in play. I think it's pretty clear cut.

why would klinnsmann want to coach in the Championship next season?

i dont make the odds i just reports em LOL. i only mentioned it here because seeing his name there hit me as odd. anyway they hired Paolo Di Canio
today and sunderlands vice-chairman resigned because di canio's pro-facist politics.
